I noticed today that my MIM 2000 tele bridge is a bit off of the wood at the side nearest the neck( the front). I noticed that every once in a while I can kind of hear it sound like it is not sturdy enough-I get kind of a wobble if I play it unplugged. Anyway I am wondering if I could replace it with the 62 tele custom pickup and bridge assembly-I see these prepacked on ebay for about $50-is this the unit that is on the American tele 62 reissues? Can I put an American standard tele bridge on it? thanks for any advice

You cannot put an American Standard bridge on there. That's 3 mount hole configuration and the through holes are in entirely different locations.

I suspect there's something that got trapped between the body and the bridge, like a lead. Could you take a look?

Anyway, the replacement bridges you will be seeking are all 4 mount holes, with the through holes apart further and below those holes. You have a wonderland of choices or you can set straight what you have.

Very weird, the way the Mexican Standard and the American Standard look so much alike. But on careful inspection, once can see, their paths never can cross.

Will the ASAT bridge work on a MIM string-through-body tele?

I replaced the bridge on my MIM Standard with a Wilkinson 3 saddle compensated bridge from Guitar Fetish.
But I didn't have a problem with my old bridge not laying flat on the top of the guitar.
That does sound like maybe the ground wire is out of position or a pickup lead is trapped under the plate. So if thet's the only reason you have for wanting to replace the bridge I'd just unscrew it & make sure everything's out of the way.

The ASAT Classic bridge is designed to work with that wide wide G + L heel width. The string spacing is a little bit wider than most 3 barrel vintage style T bridges provide and it straitjackets you as to the precise placement of all 6 strings. One or both of the E strings will tend to wanna fall off the average MIM tele fretboard.

Btw this ASAT bridge product (yes, these are imported now and have been for at least 5 years, either Tribute or USA model) is much more nicely machined than the cheapo Fender "6 hammer" bridge or the cheapo Allparts 6 barrel saddle types. Much less traishy noises. But I still would not recommend it for a guitar with a Fender width heel on it.

Joe Barden makes one with compensated brass saddles - it will fit and is great!

Can't speak for rightys but the lefties are a drop in.

The 52 RI 3 barrel bridge is also a drop in, in both the MIM and the ASAT and the ASAT bridge is a drop in, in the 52 RI.

At least mine are.
