Joined A New Band - Couldn't Be Happier

Last August my band of 4-1/2 years disbanded, basically just ran it's course. I was very disappointed at the time because it was a great situation for so many reasons. I joined up with some other friends shortly after and it's a fine situation but not my dream band. A couple months ago I started trolling CL and last week got invited to sit in with a blues/rock band near my home.

Amazingly this group is everything I want:

Similar age and music taste.
Incredibly nice people.
Husband drummer / singer.
Wife guitar (including slide) / singer / keyboard / flute.
Bass player who is solid.
And me guitar / singer.
Financially stable people with home practice space 30 minutes from my house.
Rehearsal sound volume is the lowest I've ever played.
They have three - four hours catalog.
They gig regularly at wineries.
They had the full music book and CD ready for me.
They want to add songs from my book.

This just feels so gratifying. I started playing eight years ago and I feel like this is the culmination of all that work. I walked into the audition with several years of band experience so I know how to fit in the mix. I know how to operate my equipment (thanks TDPRI). Many of the songs they called out at the audtion I knew how to play.

That's great, Sax! I hope it works out for you...it's sooooo rare to find anything on CL or Bandmix. ( I know this...I'm still looking after our band breakup.)

I played jazz saxophone from eighth grade to about 35 years old so I know music. I took a break till 46 then started guitar. I have a good feel for music and how a band should function. I also have a pretty good feel for soloing from my jazz sax playing, but my guitar skill level is just so/so. This may actually help me stand out because I don't over play which many people find refreshing.
