dwlb January 15th, 2012, 03:43 AM Here's me in about 1989 with the Electra Invicta I got in '81. I still have it, though it's retired from gigging.

A bandmate had a blonde Invicta, which I used at this show in '93. Wish I'd bought it from him; still looking for one. They crop up on eBay from time to time...

those are awsome Electras and welcome to the TDPRI Sir:wink:
TeleTim911 January 27th, 2012, 11:18 PM I'm in...no photos but I have a LP copy...kind of like flag72's. I think mine is a '71, but I don't know. I remember my brother buying it back around then, and he sold it to me about 6 months later...have had it since.
Not long after I got it I put in a set of Gibson Humbuckers out of a real LP (that guy wanted some SD's or something). I changed the tuners out. It's been stripped of the black paint and finished in satin clear. I changed the bridge recently to a roller.
I've played that guitar for lots of years, and had people approach me and ask me about it...what it was, how comes it sounds so great, etc. It is one great sounding/playing guitar, that's for sure. It's one of my "keepers".

shadowman1 January 29th, 2012, 02:32 AM Hey guys. I just bought a 1974 Electra 2245 Cherry burst and I'm looking for a cream neck pickup ring. Any ideas where I can get one? They seem to be a little wider than the Gibson one across the body.
Thanks
Dave

dwlb January 29th, 2012, 03:26 AM Can't help with the pickup ring, sorry. I'll look, as I took the rings off this one, but I doubt they're in any kind of shape if they're even still around.
My Electra sunburst, I believe it's a 2245:

Hey Dave,
Check out this forum...
http://www.rivercityamps.com/electraforum/index.php
A very dedicated group of fans. If you can't find a post there about your pickup ring then join and post it yourself. I've found bunches if info on replacement fits for most everything and someone might just have an original spare.
shadowman1 January 29th, 2012, 05:25 PM Thanks. I tried to join that forum and haven't gotten a response back in almost a week to allow me to post. Maybe the administrator there will wake up one day and start my membership.
shadowman1 January 29th, 2012, 05:27 PM I'm pretty sure that some other guitar has the same oversized pickup rings but I have no idea which ones. The one I need is about 3 3/4" across the body and the Gibsons are about 3 1/2" across.
Dave
duncandonuts January 29th, 2012, 06:08 PM @dwlb: Is that an x420 that you are playing in your most recent gig picture? I can't make out if is missing the sound holes from that angle.
@wyzsard: How do you like that 270 when you flip the switch over to BEAST mode??

dwlb January 29th, 2012, 10:35 PM Thanks. Looking for a cream colored one.
Dave
Sorry, I meant I took the cream ones off, before putting the black ones on.
dwlb January 29th, 2012, 10:38 PM @dwlb: Is that an x420 that you are playing in your most recent gig picture? I can't make out if is missing the sound holes from that angle.
It is an x420, I believe--it has no f holes.
duncandonuts February 1st, 2012, 10:51 PM Yup, an x420 it is then. Very nice 335 style guit. How long are you planning on keeping it?
My x410 needs a friend, you dig?
Picked up a RockStrad to complete the trilogy. Hope to get a pic or two up in a week or so.

 Yeah, sorry--I picked it up in a music store in Lansing, MI 23 years ago and it ain't goin' nowhere!
I'm actually down an Electra or two myself--I sold a sunburst MPC back in 2010, and am on the lookout for a blond Invicta and often think about picking up another Workingman. Workingman's a great guitar to carry along as a backup on gigs, but mine's set up for Nashville tuning right now.
duncandonuts February 10th, 2012, 06:22 PM Here are a couple pics from the former owner of my latest...

Never found a bolt-on copy that could hang with my '70 LPC sustain-wise..... 'til now.
AnArmyOfJuan February 11th, 2012, 02:06 PM I have an Electra Dan Armstrong copy, but the neck was warped, and I'm not sure where the body and parts are now. I'll have to find that and put it back together soon.
Wyzsard February 13th, 2012, 12:06 AM dp
Wyzsard February 13th, 2012, 01:03 AM @wyzsard: How do you like that 270 when you flip the switch over to BEAST mode??
I love it. Lots of usable tones with the EQ. With the phase and tap as well, it's great. It'll do beast
Wyzsard February 13th, 2012, 01:07 AM That's purty, and looks to be in really great shape for a 30+ year old guitar.

Thanks.
All the Electras in this thread look sweet. Real sleepers for sure.

TeleTim911 May 6th, 2012, 04:25 PM I'm in! One of my all-time favorite guitars, and was my #1 more years than I can count (some people thought I was nuts, until they played it or heard it!).
Mine was originally black, but it's been stripped and refinished with satin lacquer. The tuners are Gibson Deluxe, the pups are out of a 1973 or so Gibson LP, and the knobs came off a 60's Vox amp. (sorry, can't post pix right now).
Wyzsard May 6th, 2012, 05:51 PM Nice Elrathia !

Sargeslide June 6th, 2012, 08:25 AM I scored a 420x! Great guitar!, needed some help, and pickups. I put a set of Duncan P-Rails and Tripleshot rings on it! It is my main gigging guitar now! add a pic when I get the chance
flag72 June 9th, 2012, 09:56 AM keep em comming guy's ...lloollll
jtees4 June 9th, 2012, 11:52 AM Mid '70's...had a chance to buy Leslie West's MPC that he just traded in, nice guitar....but I bought his Marshall Major head instead 'cause I really needed an amp at the time. He also traded in a Hayman guitar...now THAT was interesting.
rocklucas November 4th, 2012, 05:30 PM Sweet guitar man, how much does one of those set you back? I'm guessing less than you'd imagine considering the obvious build quality.
Nice examples guys ! Electras rock for sure. I picked up this X-270 Powered EQ a few weeks ago. Best guitar I've ever owned.

jondanger February 2nd, 2013, 09:38 PM I'm in! Just picked up this 2259 at a nice price, and after a little cleaning, new switch, and new output jack, she's ready to go and sounding great.

vintage clubber February 4th, 2013, 07:51 AM I used to have an Electra Flying V copy, modeled after a '67 V. It was a sweet guitar!

Congrats again! Saw your NGD post on these. I love the lawsuit headstock. I had one of these in gold when I was about 16 with the same headstock. It didn't fit in the case that I already had, so I took off the tuners and cut the top of the headstock off with a jig saw. So stupid.
Anyway, that is a beautiful guitar and a great score. Love to see nice examples of these hidden gems.

Thanks. Man that's too bad that you hacked up that Goldtop. The '72-73 Goldtop 2254 Super Rock guitars are fetching a lot of money right now. Some I've seen go for close to $1000. I guess you never know how much something will increase in value and be worth in the future. I've got 5 Electras right now,and I'm going to hold on to mine.
dwlb March 23rd, 2013, 12:26 AM NGD! Just picked up a blonde Invicta to go with the brown one I bought new in 1981. I've been wanting one for years and years. It's beautiful, all stock save for the knobs which some previous owner replaced with silver tele knobs for some reason.
Colo Springs E May 18th, 2013, 06:51 AM You guys see where Electra is making guitars again?

Love that 'wave' headstock.
TeleTim911 May 18th, 2013, 07:31 AM Someone asked for pics of mine, finally got to where I could post some:
