Can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong? vjf1968 January 13th, 2012, 09:51 AM Check your Midi/audio set up and check that the audio is being passed into the M-Audio. Wait. Isn't the Oxygen a MIDI controller? You need an audio interface like the Fast Track. You are using the wrong tool. ozmusicrocks January 13th, 2012, 10:00 AM Yeah, the Oxygen is a MIDI controller. When I plug it in to my mac and use logic as an instrument track, the keyboard is fine. As it has a second input, I assumed that I should somehow be able to plug my guitar into it and put it through the computer that way. Was I wrong for thinking this? getbent January 13th, 2012, 10:40 AM unless your guitar outputs midi, your midi controller won't have anything to control. I think maybe your oxygen box is midi only and your guitar needs an analog to digital converter rather than midi. hence, no sound. ozmusicrocks January 13th, 2012, 10:48 AM Thanks for the tip. I knew that there was something wrong, but had no idea what. vjf1968 January 13th, 2012, 12:25 PM That jack on your Oxygen is for an expression pedal. It is not an instrument input. You need something like: http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/MobilePre.html http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/FastTrackPro.html http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/FastTrack.html http://www.presonus.com/products/Detail.aspx?ProductId=53 http://www.focusrite.com/products/audio_interfaces/scarlett_2i2/ There a slew of others and most cost under $300 or less in the US. Decided if you want Firewire or USB 2.0 ozmusicrocks January 13th, 2012, 08:08 PM Thanks so much for your help. I did have in mind to get an apogee duet at some point, but it looks like that "some point" will be a lot sooner. I really have limited knowledge when it comes to this sort of thing. vjf1968 January 14th, 2012, 09:46 AM Thanks so much for your help. Well look at this way, at least you had the good sense to get a decent DAW, |
