Recommend an IC Socket from Mouser

I've been using the rat shack IC sockets and the darn legs are so short and so hard to solder. Mouser has so many that I cant decide. Can anyone recommend a good 8 pin DIP IC socket to be installed in perf board from mouser.com?

Also, does anyone know if mouser carries a 3pdt foot switch? I searched but I can't find one. I'd hate to place two orders with different places and nobody seems to carry all of the parts that I need (pedal parts plus, mouser, small bear).

I put an 8 pin IC socket in a Tubescreamer over the weekend, and I just used an old socket from Radio Shack that was in my junk drawer. I fit perfectly and was easy to solder! According to the package it was Radio Shack part number 276-1995. I estimate I bought this part about ten or twelve years ago, so I can't be certain they still carry this part number or even if it would still be the exact same dimensions.

I think that I've at least worked around the issue. I've been using plain old perf board (no solder pads) which makes soldering those tiny RS contacts tricky. I bought some strip board and that makes soldering much easier.

I did buy some of the Mil Max 20x1 socket like the one you linked to above and I cut it up into three contact chunks for transistor sockets. Worked really well. It might still be a pain to solder on plain old perf board but I think I'm done with that.

I just successfully completed a fuzz pedal that started off as a little side project while I was waiting on parts for another project. I still need to play around with a cap value and maybe the transistors but it works and sounds good.

Glad it worked out for you.

Mouser doesn't carry 3PDTs. Unfortunately.
