Plagueskill January 8th, 2012, 10:40 PM Some may find it awesome looking (I kinda do) but a 1965 Fender Jaguar refinished in pink....
heres the ad;
http://sacramento.craigslist.org/msg/2782131074.html
Not as bad as some i've seen but still.
nickwort January 9th, 2012, 11:59 AM If I had the money, I'd be alllll over that iin a heart beat. beautiful
Manolete January 9th, 2012, 12:58 PM Not really a travesty. If the seller had routed it out for PAFs using a hammer and a rusty knife then it might be filed under travesties.
Jack FFR1846 January 9th, 2012, 01:04 PM Travesties to me personally are those ads listing a "Fender Stratocaster/Telecaster" with a picture so blurry that you don't know if it's a guitar or a hot dog. Then emails from me: Is it a Fender or a Squier. Their response: it's a Fender. I double check: Does it say Squier anywhere on the guitar? Them: no, it's a Fender. Me, so it's a mexican Fender. Them: yes, that's what my husband says.
I drive 45 minutes and then get a text: We just got back from lunch....the guitar says Squier by Fender.
Their ad said $250....making it reasonable for a mim strat. I text back.....no thanks, I just sold that exact model yesterday for $40. (which I had).
They should have feedback for Craigslist buyers and sellers!
Matthias January 9th, 2012, 01:34 PM If he did it when it wasn't worth much and he really liked the pink, it's fine. If he did it last year... :)
Plagueskill January 9th, 2012, 09:34 PM Think it'd be possible to get it refinished in a different color? Btw Jack that story sucks, some people on CL are illiterate jerks.

I saved myself from another exact fate. Another similar ad, also in the middle of nowhere. I responded to the ad: I'm interested in the guitar. Does it say Squier anywhere at all on the guitar. He responded yes, it says it in 2 places. I thanked him and asked that he say so in his ad and gave him the story above. He changed it.
73Fender January 15th, 2012, 09:48 PM Last two teles I checked on CL: ask the seller any fret wear? "None at all". Make the drive, one was an hour, damn things had divots. Where they hoping I wouldn't notice? Amazing, takes all kinds I suppose.
mndean January 16th, 2012, 07:25 PM Squier as Fender is bad, but then there's this:

goonie January 17th, 2012, 10:22 AM When my son was looking at LPs we saw a "Gibson Special" on gumtree for $800. No picture so I smelled a rat.
Called the guy and asked, is it a Gibson SG or Les Paul. Just says Special, he replied. Does it have the word "Epiphone" anywhere on the guitar, I ask. Why yes it does, he says. You really should mention that in the ad, says I, and the guitar is a $250 Epiphone Special II.
The guy was clearly playing dumb, he knew what he had and that it wasn't a Gibson.
He also said he had two people coming around to look at it. I sincerely hope one of them kicked his arse.
Hiker January 17th, 2012, 10:27 AM Pay $150 for a Squier. Have it setup by a guy that knows what he's doing. Practice without putting a scratch on it. List it on CL with an accurate description (looks like new-not a scratch), then was contacted by with a sight-unseen offer (this happened) of forty big ones.
Facepalm! Say what you want, but it WAS worth every bit of $75. The store would have charged at least that 'used' and more likely more, with sales tax, too!
A mint guitar for approximately 1/4 of the street price? That's a stretch, and an insult...

somethin about this one just dont make sense lol

I had a guy who was constantly doing this to me and I happened to find out that it was a local flea market scumbag.
I went down there and found him!
I picked out a nice $75 guitar that he wanted $250 for and let him go through his whole spiel before asking,
"Will you take thirty?"
The guy just exploded and started ranting and raving and waving his arms around like I had just insulted his sainted Mother!
I calmly waited until he had wound down and asked,
"Why is it perfectly OK for you to do it to me on Craigslist, but I come down here, do it to you and its a federal crime?"
That wound him back up and he started spouting off some Yankee Italian "YAH FUNGOO" sounding BS!
I just walked on before he really hurt himself, but I noticed that Craigs List ads from my town stopped getting any response from him!
allen st. john January 17th, 2012, 01:44 PM I thought the title said Craigslist Transvestites.
I like the pink Jag and for $1500, it's a deal. Mark Jenny could put a nice relic'd finish on that--seafoam green anyone?-- for a few hundred, and you've got a vintage Fender for new guitar money.

Haha that comment made my day.
I was really considering getting the guitar and finding someone to refinish it to a different color, any idea how you'd get in contact with anybody?
Tele Belly January 18th, 2012, 11:51 AM My wife tried to get me to wear pink once. Once.
I like the guitar though and it would be a good buy at that price.
