What is your favorite guitar to pair with your tele at a live gig?
You can only take two guitars and the tele MOST go, what's the other one?

Tele + ? for gig.xjazzy January 8th, 2012, 04:50 PM What is your favorite guitar to pair with your tele at a live gig? You can only take two guitars and the tele MOST go, what's the other one? thepassivevoice January 8th, 2012, 04:53 PM A second Tele with a humbucker in the neck position. flag72 January 8th, 2012, 05:11 PM classic vibe tele + Agile LP copy this will cover everything...lol:wink: cnote January 8th, 2012, 05:18 PM Ibanez nylon string acoustic/electric. Love the growl of the nylon strings. A.B.Negative January 8th, 2012, 05:38 PM Gretsch. Turtleface January 8th, 2012, 05:38 PM Zee Rickenbacker! 360 in Jetglow. Contrasts nicely with my white, double- bound Tele! Aurally, and visually! KBCL January 8th, 2012, 05:42 PM I voted P90s since my #1 is a Les Paul with P90s. Might be the greatest sounding guitar/pickup combo ever. Matthias January 8th, 2012, 07:18 PM 335. Semi-hollow and humbuckers. Loads of new ground there. bullfrogblues January 8th, 2012, 07:36 PM I take one of these. Sometimes I take my tele as a backup, just depends on the gig. http://i1096.photobucket.com/albums/g333/bullfrogblues/Guitar%20stuff/348918467.jpg Swampash&Tweed January 9th, 2012, 10:08 AM A second Tele with a humbucker in the neck position. Yep. My #1 also has hummer in the neck.....go figure. Swampash&Tweed January 9th, 2012, 10:30 AM I take one of these. Sometimes I take my tele as a backup, just depends on the gig. http://i1096.photobucket.com/albums/g333/bullfrogblues/Guitar%20stuff/348918467.jpg Now Thats what I call a fine looking Trio!! musicmatty January 9th, 2012, 12:26 PM Jazzmaster  chesire January 9th, 2012, 12:27 PM My Parker p6e acoustic. I can get every electric sound I need with my tele and every acoustic sound with that. Those are all I take. Sometimes I'll throw my strat in the truck but that is really only if my tele were to break, which doesn't happen with Teles :) dwmagpie January 9th, 2012, 02:35 PM My Vintage VS6 (SG). Its been gigged about as much as my tele, and gives me a totally different sound suprisingly enough... Sollophonic January 10th, 2012, 05:56 AM I always have a Tele to gig with but the spare can be anything really. Last gig I did, I took my little LP Melody Maker with the P90, planned on using it for the rockier numbers in the second set we do in this soul band I am in. Planned to swap back to the Tele for the others. In the end I didnt bother changing back, the responsive controls on the MM, covered all bases. And by the end of the set, it was roaring. My usual gig rig is now this;- http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k7/andys_01/GigRig.jpg But sometimes I take other guitars as spares for rehearsals, just for a bit of variety JayFreddy January 10th, 2012, 07:41 AM Statocaster... Love that whammy bar! Mike Simpson January 10th, 2012, 08:04 AM Only 2 guitars? Dawg January 10th, 2012, 08:28 AM I often take an ES 345 with the 6 position varitone control out alongside my Nocaster or '57. A P90 Les Paul goldtop would be the ultimate choice if I owned one. Must do something about that... FMA January 10th, 2012, 08:40 AM My rig usually includes my Tele, used for most everything, and a Melody Maker re-issue tuned to Open E for slide tunes. twangplank January 10th, 2012, 08:45 AM I either take a strat or Paul Reed Smith cu 24. Since I put a bigsby on my tele I use a strat less. dezb1 January 10th, 2012, 02:00 PM If you're playing your Tele... why would you need another guitar? chillman January 10th, 2012, 02:38 PM http://media.fmicdirect.com/fender/images/products/guitars/0100202850_frt_wmd_001.jpg PLUS http://www2.gibson.com/Images/Products/Electric-Guitars/Les-Paul/Gibson-USA/Junior/Gallery-Images/LPJGYCH1-Finish-Shot-jpg.aspx?KeepThis=true& They even match! Dan C January 10th, 2012, 04:27 PM Gotta Have Some Of That 'Great Gretsch Sound'! Minky January 10th, 2012, 04:32 PM Im poor i only own one electric guitar.... Blue Bear January 10th, 2012, 04:34 PM 108654My Tele has P-90s. And it rocks! InfiniteRhino January 10th, 2012, 04:44 PM A second tele, the same as the first but in a different tuning. Tele works, why faff around? mistermullens January 10th, 2012, 09:45 PM I usually gig with these. If so, my Esquire is tuned to Open G for slide. http://www.tdpri.com/telephoto/data/500/medium/Covered.jpg Sometimes I take two Esquires, then the one pictured goes to standard tuning, and my converted butterscotch CV50 gets the Open G treatment. LSU Fan January 11th, 2012, 12:05 PM 108758 Tried to delete one pic to no success RevMike January 11th, 2012, 02:34 PM I play keys too, so I try to keep the load at a minimum. Still...I've taken to dragging my Fender Malibu acoustic along. Cheap, small, solid top....kind of like a parlor guitar with a strat neck. Fishman pickup, and onboard tuner. I keep it stung light with acoustic 10's. Its like my emergency kit in case everything else breaks. Looks and Sounds pretty good amped up too. 73Telecaster January 11th, 2012, 05:34 PM Something with mini-humbuckers. Jimclarke100 January 11th, 2012, 05:58 PM Um - Actually when i was gigging, the Tele was no. 2 to my Ric 330 - Should I just pack up and leave now?? LondonLefty January 11th, 2012, 07:02 PM With my tele, I always have this - Samick Artiist Series 335 copy for some humbucker grit sonofrock82 January 16th, 2012, 07:03 PM My choice will be Gibson Les Pul '58 Vos for sure! dented January 16th, 2012, 10:22 PM Why, another Tele with the Gibson mini HB in the neck of course! My Mark Jenny in Fiesta red. tjalla January 16th, 2012, 11:15 PM I voted ES335, but in reality its whichever has freshest strings and/or electronics intact from my most recent pickup swapping experimenting. tehanallang January 17th, 2012, 12:22 PM Tele with P90's! paratus January 17th, 2012, 12:32 PM 335, it can do just about everything else. |
