Have Pro Tools LE 8 installed at home with Digidesign Rack 003 as the interface. Just been given a Focusrite VRM unit as another mix-down aid. This is driving me nuts trying to get it to work. Have installed the software from the CD; have connected the unit as shown with USB to computer and link to S/PDIF out on the 003 Rack using co-axial cable with RCA connector. VRM software shows S/PDIF locked so I am assuming the two units are recognising each other. What is defeating me - a Pro Tools new user - is the simple statement "In your audio interface's control panel, ensure that audio is sent to the S/PDIF output of your audio interface". Can any more experienced users please explain - in simple terms - how I do this?
Many thanks for any help received.

Well I run PT8, M Powered, I had no issues getting the software loaded and recognizing the M Audio card as well as the Maudio 25 Key Keyboard. That took all of 15 min total. Now, I recently tried to connect a Zoom R16 as a USB controller and gave up !
My take would be, load the software and use it with the Digidesign and work with it for a while, come back to the Focusrite at a later date. Get things working first to a point where you are satisfied with performance. Come back to the VRM, maybe it doesn't even work ! Start by building Rome one day at a time...
PT8 is a great platform, well tested, an enormous installation base and the PT forums are excellent as well.

Look at the hardware ins and outs, (should be in the second to right dropdown menu up top IIRC) you might need to create a "new path" for the spdif output and then assign all the track outputs there in your edit window by holding alt & click on the out button selecting spdif from the list instead of OUT1/2.
