Building a Timmy

If you saw my other thread you know that the attempt to rehouse my OD pedal (Danelectro Cool Cat Transparent OD) didn't go as planned. Since its supposed to be a clone of the Timmy I've decided to use the components that I have plus a few that I still need to build a hand made clone of the Timmy.

I'm in the process of laying out the circuit and I'm curious about the dip switches for the extra diodes. Are the sounds unique enough that I should consider mounting two mini toggles on the face of the pedal? The enclosure has plenty of room for the switches and the cost difference is minor.

Once I get the layout put together I'll post it to this thread for comments. I also want to pass along thanks to Tjk3052 for providing his copy of the layout and the schematic.

I wish I had the know how to build a Timmy...or a Zendrive. That would have probably saved me a couple of bucks.

If either switch is on there is slightly less volume than both off. Either switch on will sound the same as the other. The result is asymmetrical clipping.
If both switches are on there is a greater volume decrease than with both off, or either one on. The result is symmetrical clipping.

The advantage of either diode is to provide asymmetry to the waveform, an that's why I'd only use one of the diodes. You can easily wire these up to switchs to see what they sound like before you stuff it into your box and drill that last hole. The sounds are all a little different, it's really up to you.
You can also come up with your own little matrix and just hard wire it in. Go Nuts!

Sounds like you have the V2 of the TOD.

My understanding is that the V2 is not the same as
V1 and hence, somewhat different than a Timmy.

I'd like to know if I'm wrong.

V1 isn't the same as a Timmy either. He's trying to follow a schematic posted in his previous thread.

Yup I "had" a V1 and I'm hoping the Timmy will be similar. Maybe even better. I have a V1 drive too and I'm trying to decide if I should sell it and use the cash to build a TS or try again to rehouse with what I now know.

Well, a CC Drive is a Fulltone OCD copy, so you could always build that one from scratch as well.
