Used Epiphone Masterbilt price question

I have an Masterbilt AJ500M that's not getting any use since I prefer a 1-3/4" nut. I bought it new around 5-6 years ago, and I'm thinking of selling it to help fund an inexpensive 12 string.

Here's the particulars:

Slope shoulder sunburst (sunburst is no longer available on the new models)
I polished the satin top to a nice semi-gloss
Martin style beveled 50's tortoise Greven guard
Strap button added at the heel
Standard Grover Sta-Tites
Original soft/hard case with built in hygrometer (I believe the new Epi M-bilts no longer come with cases or gig bags of any kind)
Other than forearm dulling on the lower bout bass side, there are no scratches or cracks anywhere. The guitar is in very good condition.

No pics yet, but I'll post in Classifieds as soon as possible, preferably for a local handoff in North Jersey.

The AJ500M retails new at GC for $500 without a case.

Suggestions on a fair asking price?

Tom

Curious, what size is the nut on yours? I may be interested

I have one of the EF500RN models. Real nice series of acoustics IMO. I did the same as you and polished the top, back and sides. Huge improvement, don't know why they put that yucky satin finish on such nice wood. Even with your upgrades I think you would be hard pressed to get more than $300-$350, they don't hold their prices too well. I have seen them on CL for $250. Personally I would keep it. I actually nearly bought one a couple of years ago, I like the mahogany version better than the RW.

Up here in Canada, I just got 450 for my used AJ500M with case. Seeing as our dollar is nearly at par with the USD, 400 would be sensible, though the particulars of your market may dictate otherwise. Due to the quality of the guitar, I'd be hard pressed to let it go for any less than 400. I sold mine because I wasn't playing it nearly as much as my Gibson J45.
