Playing one of my original songs at church this week

I play in the praise band at a Catholic church. Our band leader just emailed us the song list for this Sunday, and one of my original tunes is on the list.

It's not the first time we've done one of my songs at church; we've snuck them in a couple of other times when the band leader and her husband were out of town. But this is the first time she has picked one of my songs for the service (it will be a prelude).

I'm pretty stoked, but I realize it's not about me.

I'm always trying to get my church to play some originals.. never works out though.

Update:

It went pretty well. We're in the choir loft so it's hard to see the reaction of the congregation, but no one turned around and gave us mean looks.

We're still using the "drumming by committee" approach so this time our sound guy sat behind the kit. We were in kind of a rush setting up so no one set up the kick or the high hat, but it gave it kind of an "unplugged" feel.

The rest of the gang kicked in some nice harmonies on the chorus so it sounded like a real song.

I have a flip video, but I will need to edit it and post it to Youtube.
