removing PG bender

I'm considering buying a US Fender Bender(!) body. I'm also considering painting it and was wondering how difficult it is to remove the mechanism? Is it like a Strat pickguard where everything is attached to the cover or are some parts attached to the body itself?

Everything is attached to the back plate. Remove the eleven small wood screws on the outside of the bender plate. Do not touch the four larger ones that hold the tower and adjustment wheel or the large head black allen screw. Pull the bender off. The front tower bezel is held in place by friction.

To re-install, push the top bezel back in place. Make sure the O ring is on the tower and push the bender back into the guitar. Re-install the screws.
