boilerup2004 December 30th, 2011, 06:47 PM I know that there's a general Taylor club, but this little one has been pretty hot lately. Here's mine:

I've posted about my issues with noise and the ES-GO here, and just posted a walkthrough of the installation of the grounding kit over at the AGF. Although the buzz about the pickup's noise is earned (pun intended), it's a simple fix and makes the system usable.
I was stoked when I got my CV50's tele, as it actually lived up to all of the hype that I saw here. The GSM was the same for me acoustically, but the not so much for the ES-GO. I'm happy to report that after installing the grounding kit, I'm as happy with the pickup as the guitar now. I'm not dazzled by much as far as gear goes, but these two guitars really blew me away.
I can now carry my GSM, V-cable, and Lexicon alpha interface over one shoulder, my Macbook Pro over the other, and play with Garageband anywhere I want. Heck, I don't even need wall power! This guitar does exactly what it was designed for--easy portability and good performance.
The GSM is simple, but not cheap--not very different from what Martin's 15 series does, albeit in a smaller package. The ES-GO is sold as an "easy" solution, but (other than the noise issues), isn't "cheap", either. It wouldn't be my first choice for a performance pickup, but for what it is, it's actually very nice, and usable. I'm tempted to check out the iOS interface that Sonoma has, but don't know that I need to carry an entire studio around in my pocket.
Who else out there loves their GS Mini?
LJOHNS December 30th, 2011, 09:46 PM I picked one of these up when they first came out last year and I love it. The GS Mini is an outstanding small acoustic for the money. Taylor says they will be making these with some solid wood back/side options in the future. I can imagine one of these in Rosewood!
ROADMAN January 8th, 2012, 08:02 PM I'm in....love mine and haven't had any issues with the pickup either...great little guitar with a neck that has become one of my alltime favorites...electric or acoustic

JDRNoPro January 8th, 2012, 09:12 PM I picked up a GS mini last year too, primarily to have at camp. Darn nice sounding little guitar for the $ with a pretty big voice.
DonMI6 January 9th, 2012, 03:57 PM G'day guys, I was looking for a small bodied acoustic & was trying to find an Epi EL-00, thankfully I found this Taylor first. Apart from the great tone for such a small bodied guitar, and the build quality, the supplied soft case isn't the worst I've seen either!
And I really don't like pickguards.

looks great without the guard....did it peal right off or did you have to heat it up a touch?
DonMI6 January 10th, 2012, 01:40 AM Roadman, I very gently teased up a corner with my fingernail, then squirted some naptha/Zippo lighter fluid under it & peeled it a bit more, squirt a little more, etc. The glue just dissolves & it took about 20 seconds to remove entirely.
It was a tip I found somewhere online & it worked great, no damage done to the guitar or the pickguard which can be put back on anytime.
myank January 10th, 2012, 02:31 PM I'm in the GS Mini club as well. I purchased mine back in December and I am thoroughly impressed. Its small, lightweight, portable, and plays/sounds great. The volume on this thing is amazing given it's size.

never heard that one.....I like it
w3stie May 10th, 2012, 12:24 AM I'm in the club too! I was looking at the Maton mini, but played the Taylor first. The volume and tone blew me away. Even compared to a Maton 808 this sounds good. So I really couldn't go past it for the money. A big part of playing for me is in the feel of the guitar, and the GS mini feels great in the hands. It's funny Don, but I really like the pickguard. After strumming a few chords, I'd already struck the guard and thought, lucky that's there! This is my first steel-string acoustic for many years, and I'm loving it :)
w3stie January 29th, 2013, 09:44 PM During the extended power outage we had down here, I got bored and started taking shots of my beautiful GS mini. Hope you like them!

muckleroe May 18th, 2013, 07:11 AM Picking up my GS mini hog next week, can't wait! I'll need to buy a good hardcase for it as I fly a lot with an airline that is strict about carry on bag sizes. I use an SKB/ Fender case for my Tele... Can anyone recommend a similar type case (with the model number if possible) so I can get one ordered? I can't trust the gig bag with middle eastern baggage handlers. Thanks!

I have a mahogany top one. I really love it, but I'm also very impressed with the case/ gig-bag. It may not work for you, but I think it offeres a great amount of protection for something that is so easy and convinient to get around with. I know it won't conform to carry-on regs, but I don't think the Baby does anymore either ( though they still seem to accommodate it). The GS Mini would fit in an overhead. I wonder if any airlines allow it?
muckleroe May 18th, 2013, 08:28 AM I'm sure some airlines do allow it, but it is dependent over here on the mood of the person at the check in desk as to whether you get to carry it on or not. Plus, the Turkish flights are usually pretty full, with just about everyone trying their hardest to ram every last bag into the overheads. I feel safer putting my guitars in the hold in a good quality case.
