SixShooter December 20th, 2011, 07:29 PM The boutique knobs are great but I can't afford $50 for knobs. I'm not that picky but looking for something with a decent knurl for $15 or less. I bought some Fender '52's but I am very disappointed with them.
Camcam December 20th, 2011, 07:37 PM I know you probably checked here first, but how about:

or

The next thing you have to worry about those to sites is shipping.
TNO December 20th, 2011, 07:44 PM I don't think you'll do any better than the Fenders for that price.
adirondak5 December 20th, 2011, 07:46 PM Allparts Heavy Knurl Barrel knobs , fit solid shafts , available nickel , chrome , or gold , very nice , I've used a few pairs of these , $12.50 a pair.

R. Stratenstein December 20th, 2011, 08:51 PM I bought a set from Grizzly a while back and was impressed with the quality. Seems like the knurl was more aggressive than shown in the photo below, but at $3.50 a pair, pretty good deal:

Those do look nice, though they have a funny lip at the top.

The Stew Mac has a very refined look to it. Knurl is fine but has good depth:

The GFS is pretty basic. Knurl is shallow but otherwise thew knob has nice proportions:

crazydave911 December 21st, 2011, 07:24 AM I really like the GFS knobs and StewMac (the Grizzlies are ok too). For me, it's just convenient. I order quite often from these companies and it's dead easy to throw in some knobs while I'm there (even if I don't need them at the time). It also helps that I know they fit the CTS pots I tend to use (not all of them do, the old American/metric thang )

flatfive December 21st, 2011, 03:22 PM Another option is genuine Fender parts from the Stratosphere on eBay
(ebay seller name 'thestratosphere').
edit -- oops, I just saw that you didn't like the 52 Fenders you
had. What was the matter with them?

The knurl is very rough and jagged. I don't like the feel on my fingers. I may try sand down the hi spots.
Maybe it's just these particular ones. I'll check Stratosphere. I have bought items from him in the past.
From what has been posted so far I like the GFS ones best for a vintage look and the Stew mac ones for non vintage.
TNO December 22nd, 2011, 09:22 PM Personally I like the knurl to be rough- better for pinkie rolls.
bossaholic December 22nd, 2011, 09:29 PM I just bought some heavy knurl knobs off Ebay for $14.99 a pair that I think are Allparts. I thought I wouldn't like the heavy knurl, but I do now.
Absolutely love them. Will be using them on all my builds.
