Inherited Pieces = First Build Fun

Alllllllrighty! First build, and I'd like to post my progress to start. I started with a previously primed but sanded down body. I found a bridge with saddles, pickguard, strap buttons, a jack, tuners, a control plate, and all the controls. (These were from the parts I inherited.) I also took a partially finished neck without frets, fretted (Hassle... -_-), sanded, and refinished it. I'm designing it as a Graffiti themed guitar inspired by some of my favorite bands (Nickelback, Yellowcard, and Coldplay. Jonny Buckland (Coldplay) loves Telecasters.)

The Primed Body (Sorry bout the bad lighting, just a quick one)

And the neck

Custom painted pickguard

I put a couple coats of lacquer over the paint, seems to hold it well, anyone elsed have experience with this? (The mushroom is a local graffiti thing)

And the paint job finished today, doing the back tomorrow.

So now for my newbie questions.

Does anyone know how nitrocellulose lacquer works on Rust-Oleum Painter's Touch? I know some people don't approve of the standard store paints, but unless it's really important I'm not really interested. :P

And also, anything special I should do after lacquering besides assembling it? It's not a really important guitar, I just want it to look nice for my first build. Not trying to sell it.

Finally, what do you think?

Thanks for your input in advance!

I can't answer your questions, but it's looking good. That's the great thing about building your own, you can please yourself. Did you inherit pickups?

I used Rustoleum metalic blue and covered it with Minwax laquer.
So far no issues, but im not complete yet.

Martyn,
Yes I did get some pickups, including a Tele bridge pickup and an assortment of Strat styled single-coils, but I am currently looking for a neck pickup. Seems like Allparts has them, but I'm going to check the local store before I buy them online.

Here's the back before paint with all the covers, just to see the design.

And after painting, w/ and w/o tape and paper.

I think it turned out pretty well, might hand-paint some little designs around it. The best part of the back are those wonderfully lined up ferrule holes.

Just finished the whole thing last night! Ordered a neck pickup off Ebay, Squier Tele, and soldered/assembled all the parts. Hopefully I'll get pictures of the finished product up this evening.
