First Build!

After doing a few simple mods, I decided to actually build something. I went for something very simple - the Runoffgroove Sili-Face. I built the whole thing from Radio Shack parts, with the exception of the volume pot and knob (the Shack does not carry 100k log pots). I point-to-point wired it on a generic printed circuit board from the Shack.

Major educational experience for me, and I'm inspired to build something a bit more complex now.:mrgreen:

Switch (true) bypasses the effect. The Shack also doesn't sell a dpdt stomp
switch (at least not my local Shack). The enclosure isn't really stomp-worthy anyway. It's about a notch above heavy-duty Reynolds Wrap.

I'm going to be building an Umble as soon I can spring for the parts
I don't have and a big enough enclosure.

Parts such as the 3pdt are cheap through Mammoth Electronics
and cheaper still through Futurlec. Check 'em out.

I thought it would be "cute" if my first build was an All-Radio-Shack thing. In fact, I call it the "RSF," which could either be Runoffgroove Sili Face" or "Radio Shack Fuzz."

I'm quite surprised at how good it sounds. I want to build the Sili Face II, out of curiosity.

Yeah, I watched your youtube clip, and listened to the clips
at ROG and was impressed by the sound. I'm going to build a Silli-face
as well just for grins. I've got a friend who is a Gilmour fanatic. I'll
probably give it to him when I'm done.

Great stuff. I'm glad you brought this up because I'd
forgotten about all the great projects on the ROG Home
Wrecker archives. And I'd been meaning to build a Pepper Mill
too. So thanks for the reminder.

I vote for Radio Shack Fuzz. We always called RS "Rat Shack" as kids.
