Putting a lipstick in my Bronco..

I just bought a squier bronco bass, it hasnt even arrived yet. But I really think it would look great with a lipstick pickup in it.

Apparently the bronco uses normal guitar sized pickup, so I am hoping it will fit right in.

I was wondering if I should take the opportunity to upgrade the electrics altogether? If so, can anyone recommend pot & cap values?

I am clueless in this area. I know that I like guitars bright, but this is my first bass. I dont have an idea regarding tone. It only has one pickup, so perhaps the most range in tone is a good idea?

I put one in a Musicmaster Bass (which is functionally the same as a Bronco Bass):

I liked it, but it wasn't particularly powerful. I ended up replacing it with a GFS dual-blade pickup that worked a bit better for me.

I'd go with Tim's option. Dual-blade pickups (guitar humbacker in a size of single coil pickup) are common upgrade for Musicmasters/Broncos and - from what I heard - the best solution if you want this bass to have some serious punch without any additional routing.

I have 2 lipstick pups on my kokocaster and they came with 500k pots. Not sure how 250k pots would sound. Thats a guitar though and not bass.
