Did Pink Floyd have ANY fast songs?

I like PF...not trying to troll...but the songs I hear on the radio are all slow. Did they have some not-so-popular songs that are fast R-N-R? Links?

There are a couple of comparitvely up-tempo cuts on The Wall - Young Lust and Run Like Hell; but I don't think I'd call them "fast".

Marijuana and LSD are a hell of a drug.

Off-hand, 'Run Like Hell' moves at a good clip, but Pink Floyd were never exactly about the bpm's.

I remember reading an interview with an old-time hit songwriter and he said anything over 130 bpm was "for speed freaks." QOTSA's 'No One Knows' is about 175.

Um, yeah, I think I meant that one, rather than Careful w/ that Ax. They ARE different songs, aren't they?

"Money" has a pretty rocking' 4/4 piece to it, but when I think of Pink Floyd, I don't think of balls-to-the-wall rock and roll...

Its actually in 7/8 time and I don't consider Money to be a fast song.

There is also the song about cutting someone into little pieces.. .its kind of fast.

I'm pretty sure I have heard every Pink floyd album ever released and the answer is no. No fast songs. Even the Syd Barrett songs. Lucifer Sam is not fast. Besides that song, the closest song on that album they have that would be considered fast would be "Take Up Thy Stethoscope and Walk." But that's not much faster (if at all) than "Lucifer Sam."

Slow songs or not, I do love Pink Floyd.

As someone already mentioned Careful With That Axe Eugene is relatively fast, though not exactly fast compared to other bands..

There's Astronomy Domine. That one's sorta fast in parts. More swirly fast than driving fast, though, if that makes any sense.

Sheep really picks it up (for them) in some parts. BTW, Animals is my fave Floyd album. Great music, guitar, lots of tele.

The section with the guitar solo was played in 4/4 to make it easier for Gilmour.

Last track on Animals, (if it hasn't already been mentioned by name) gets a little brisk, but it's no Communication Breakdown or nothin'. I suppose a more accurate response to your original post would be "No".

Its actually in 7/8 time and I don't consider Money to be a fast song.Except for the part that's not, and it's about 140bpm in that section.

One of These Days is around 130bpm (as is half of Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun, and a bunch of others) - I think that's their default 'fastish swaggery tempo'. Run Like Hell is probably their most "rock" song, and since it's probably 6/8, Astronomy Domine is likely their fastest at about 250bpm.

I recently read an article with Nick Mason (Pink Floyd's drummer) where he stated "My Dr. advised me never to play drums at a tempo above my heart rate." I thought that was funny.

LOVE the Floyd. Fast? No.

And now (while we're on the supject) a shameless plug  : www.jacksonjacksonandthecitizens.com/pf.html (http://www.jacksonjacksonandthecitizens.com/pf.html)

if you can play the 4/4 break in 7/8 you're a much better guitarist than me ( and possibly better than DG as well....).

I think the suggestions posted in this thread prove that there are no fast Floyd tunes. Every tune suggested that is supposedly fast is still pretty slow by most standards (Astronomy Domine, Free Four etc.)

If that's the best we can do, Pink Floyd must not have any fast tunes.
