Played my first show tonight

Played a cover show with other local bands, it was late 90's early 2000's punk/emo themed. We went on last, everyone was excited and sang along, and I came out of it loving my telecaster more than I already did! Played through a Peavey half stack (borrowed) and my tele cut right through and sounded so amazing!

Anyone have any cool stories about their first show with their Tele's?

Have not done this yet. Terrified. Not sure why. Congrats!

Nice and congrats... There is a local open jam that I would like to go to; I just can't get up the courage. I'm a little intimidated, I don't know why.

Thanks everyone! Neocaster and myank, if doing a cover show is intimidating, just pick a band you are really passionate about. That's all it takes. I was pretty nervous, but once I started playing the first song, passion kicked in!

My first gig was at 13 with a Japanese no-name and I kept finding myself facing the back of the stage. The band kept yelling at me to turn around. Embarrassing but I sucked it up.

My first show with my tele was with the parent-teacher band that I still play with. The audience was kids and parents of the school I teach at, so no matter what we did, everyone would love us. Some of the girls were channeling the early Beatles' audience--lots of hysterical screaming, just for the fun of screaming. Fun.

There is feeling you get playing in front of living, breathing, screaming, people that can't be duplicated.
Those who know (like you), can't explain it.
Those who don't, will never understand. :)

My Tele came to me after I had been playing for over 20 years.
My Tele spent most of that first Gig playing third-fiddle to my Strat and my Les Paul.

Since then, it has replaced my Strat when I only take two guitars to a gig.
My favorite sounds are when I play it straight through my 65 Watt Musicman Combo.
But it sounds great through every amp I've played through.

Funny thing is, my DMB tap tempo went bonkers and won't work. Somehow, clicking by hand helps, I think it has to do with the trigger inside the housing malfunctioning. It was pivotal to one of the songs but I set my tempo before hand and luckily the band stayed generally on time. How annoying. Hopefully EHX has good customer service!

First of all..congrats. Just getting the first one over with takes off some of the pressure. If all went well, it will motivate you to get back out there.

My first live show was with an Ibanez RG550 back in 88. It wasn't until 94 before I had a Tele to play at the shows. I had a Strat & a Tele at the time and sooo wanted to love the Tele but my tone at the time was based more around the Strat "quack" sound. It took me a little while and it just kinda happened. There wasn't a defining movement for me. One day I just realized that I had no longer reached for the Strats. I have been buying Teles ever since. I still keep a Strat around for recording but the Tele changed everything (in a good way).

To everybody who is sitting on the fence, working up the courage to get up on a stage and play.... its like asking a woman to dance. You just gota go up there and do it. Most likely she will say yes, and most likely you'll do just fine. And if not, keep smiling and it'll all work out in the end.

My first gig, 22 years ago, was with a Les Paul. I actually didn't start playing live with a tele until last year. Better late than never tho.

I don't remember my first gig! That's kind of sad.

I started playing in 1988 and my grandpa took me out to all the places he played less than a month later. He said the best way to learn was live fire so he took me to every country dance in Oklahoma Lol.

Its still an awesome rush though isn't it? The adrenaline rush is amazing and I still get it minus the shakiness and nervousness.

It was the most fun I've had in a long time. I've played drums for 10 years now and have played maybe ten shows, but this was a whole new world to me.

All these stories are awesome!

My first gig with a Tele was with a band I'd been in for a while. Three acoustic guitarist singers and a bass player. One of the guitarists had left town so we were doing a three piece and I decided that we could be like Johnny Cash without a drummer, so I brought the Tele. As I remember it didn't go too well. I didn't have the chops to carry it and the other guitarist wasn't crazy about electric guitars.
I'm guessing this was 1977 at Humboldt State University.

Just to back up what the others have said, to you guys who are still stage virgins, get out there and do it! Playing live is just about the most fun you can have without exchanging bodily fluids, and one gig is worth 20 hours of practice time. Don't be scared, go and find out for yourself how much fun it can be!

Was a Jr. High School gig in Pomona, Ca. I had been a veteran of another band as it's singer and this was my first 'singing and playing' gig as a 'hired gun'.

Met a little cutie I fell head over heels for. That lasted all of 4 months ~ it was April 1965.

I just played my first real gig a couple of weeks ago. I was basically background noise for a holiday party, but it did light that fire in me to get a real band together and try to get out there and justify my love of guitars.

My first gig with a tele went really well. I was just sittin in with a band at a big party a friend has. We played Rock n roll by Led Zepplin last and the leader yelled at me to take a solo. I let one rip (totally off the cuff, did not know the solo to the song), played for about 8 bars, then dropped back into rythm the leader looked at me and yelled "damn" with a large smile on his face so I must have done something right.
