beach bob December 9th, 2011, 02:45 PM Hey folks,
Is TDPRI having any issues with auto-generated hyperlinks? Lately I have been seeing hyperlinked words in posts, and when I click on them they go either to an eBay search listing for the word(s), or to a similar type Amazon page. I seem to be seeing this with proper names, and with brand names.
I am running Firefox 8.0.1 on a Windows XP Pro machine. I expect it is something on my end, but I thought I'd check, as I am not seeing this anywhere else I am surfing. Perhaps it's a holiday shopping app that has infested my browser...
Thanks for your time.
beach bob December 9th, 2011, 02:47 PM See? Right there! the eee-bay word got a hyperlink that I did not stick in there in post no. 1. Dangit, Gomer!
getbent December 9th, 2011, 03:23 PM I do not see what you are describing. I have no hyperlinks... the hyperlinks usually show up when you are not logged in...
TDPRI December 9th, 2011, 03:50 PM It is something you have installed on your computer. You may not have put it there on purpose. But we are not seeing these links that you mentioned.
Stuco December 9th, 2011, 03:52 PM I have been seeing them on the tdpri since yesterday and I've seen a couple posts where others are mentioning them too. I have not installed anything new on my computer recently.
beach bob December 9th, 2011, 04:13 PM OK; thanks Paul and getbent for the feedback. As I figured.
Maybe the little Santa gremlins are getting a mite pushy; I have been doing some holiday shopping on both evilBay and the Amazon, so they might have stuck some 'enhanced user feature' on my browser...
As ever, thanks for your fine efforts here.

Humm, We were testing a product on our development server and it was accidentally applied here a couple of days ago. However, we were notified within a few hours of this and it was removed 2 or 3 days ago.
It is possible for it to have modified some older posts and still be out there on a few older pages. But since this Thread was started this afternoon I'm not sure how it could be effecting the OP. As he said in his post that the word "ebay" in his first post had a link on it. Yet it's not showing on our systems at all (mine and Getbent's at least).
Why it would show on the OPs browser when we removed that unintended option I'm not sure. Which is why I suggested that the problem was on his end.
Stuco -- do you see a link on the word Ebay in the first post in this thread???
Bongocaster December 9th, 2011, 04:20 PM Spybot S&D caught an adware program on my computer yesterday. Run a scan with something that catches adware. With up to date definitions of course.
The nasty was called W3i.IQ5.FRAUD

And what does that have to do with this topic?
Stuco December 9th, 2011, 07:40 PM Stuco -- do you see a link on the word Ebay in the first post in this thread???
Yes, and it is showing up in your post as well.
beach bob December 9th, 2011, 09:28 PM Stuco, it's on our machines. I am at home now, using my desktop, and I am not seeing a hotlink in my post #1 viewing it here from home. So it's on my puter at work, but not on my home puter ...
Kind of weird; security type things like virus scans and adware prevention are handled by our IM folks, and I really can't adjust anything on my end as a user. Generally speaking, the restrictions are pretty tight, certainly tighter than at my home machine. But evidently something got in...
beach bob December 12th, 2011, 04:24 PM For anyone looking, I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox, and my stupid eBay / Amazon hyperlink problem is gone now. Firefox somehow managed to save my bookmarks, too! They's smart like that.
So. Carry on, and once again thanks to Paul, the kick-ass mods here, and the TDPRI in general
