Hoodster November 25th, 2011, 01:06 AM I've been running Firefox on my 09 iMac since I got it with no problems. Then, just in the past week, it began freezing ONLY on this website. If I'm lucky it might let me load the first page, but one more click and it's locked up. AFAIK I haven't changed anything with my computer recently (like going to a new version of FF, etc.). All is well if I'm using Safari, but I prefer FF.
BTW, I already checked for add-ons and there are none installed.
Sooper8 November 25th, 2011, 01:20 AM I had a few problems a while back with Safari and TDPRI on my Mac. Sorted itself now though.
Vegetable Man November 25th, 2011, 01:32 AM Give Google Chrome a try and see if you still have problems.
Firefox isn't all that great anymore. . . .
Thundersleet November 25th, 2011, 01:33 AM I've been using Firefox for a long time now. I don't have any issues with the TDPRI website. I also use NoScript and Ghostery addons. Maybe one of the ads is what's causing your problems. Or are you using beta Firefox?
voodoo_idol November 25th, 2011, 02:20 AM I've never had a problem with FF on TDPRI.
62 Jazzmaster November 25th, 2011, 02:35 AM Firefox 8.0 here with a lot of Add-ons and not a whiff of problems with TDPRI except chronic GAS from looking at all those beautiful guitars posted here.

Frontier9 November 25th, 2011, 03:13 AM ...Firefox isn't all that great anymore. . . .Details?
KevinB November 25th, 2011, 07:33 AM I'm using Firefox v8.0 on a PC right now. No problems at all.
Maybe your issue isn't with FF?
castpolymer November 25th, 2011, 08:02 AM I am using it right now on PC. No issues at all.
voodoo_idol November 25th, 2011, 08:21 AM You might try updating your Java and Adobe Flash installations. They run on top of your browser and an advertisement on TDPRI may be hanging or crashing if yours are out of date.
fuzzbender November 25th, 2011, 08:46 AM Gibson just bought it?
elicross November 25th, 2011, 08:52 AM No problems with FF here -- none ever, that I can recall.
Jared Purdy November 25th, 2011, 08:54 AM It's not Fire Fox. It's Mac :lol:l::shock::lol::lol::shock::lol::shock: Stick with PC!
Jared Purdy November 25th, 2011, 08:55 AM Gibson just bought it?
 +1
mellecaster November 25th, 2011, 09:29 AM Mac and Firefox here....never a problem.
Cat MacKinnon November 27th, 2011, 06:02 AM "Gibson just bought it?" <-- HAHAHA, that's hilarious (also, i'm easily amused;)
seriously though, i'm using Firefox 8 on Ubuntu (10.10), and i don't have any problems. the only add-on's i have are Ad Block Plus and ScribeFire, along with the standard Flash and Java plugins that pretty much everyone else probably has. i don't think TDPRI uses much (if any) Flash, but sometimes some forum software uses Java and Javascript code, which could possibly be causing your problem. my computer is a Lenovo laptop w/ an Intel Core Duo processor and is a couple years old, so our hardware is probably pretty similar.
i'd recommend uninstalling Firefox and then doing a full reinstall of it. i've noticed that some Firefox updates occasionally cause issues, but if i do a full reinstall of it (instead of just updating), it fixes the problem (and that tends to go for a lot of software in general.)
PeterUK November 27th, 2011, 07:18 AM Give Google Chrome a try and see if you still have problems.
But if you do try Google Chrome, appreciate that it doesn't let you set the cache limit and that you can very quickly amass GBs of temporary files, just the sort of stuff that Google use for analytical purposes.
I tried Google Chrome. It worked OK, no better and other browsers, but I was astonished how much data it had cached.
I removed it quickly after that.

sjtalon November 27th, 2011, 09:09 AM I have Firefox on a W 7 PC and my older Vistsa PC and NO PROBLEMS
Dan German November 27th, 2011, 09:28 AM Older Mac (PowerBook G4) with old Firefox (v. 3.6.2) and no problems with TDPRI. I was having occasional random freezes, but an uninstall/reinstall cured that.
TxTeleMan November 27th, 2011, 09:41 AM I use FF exclusively on TDPRI. No issues whatsoever. Now on FF 8.01.
But then again I'm using Windows (Vista on two PCs and Windows 7 on one) and keep my systems up-to-date with patches.
Hoodster January 7th, 2012, 10:03 PM FYI, turns out this was the first warning sign of a dying hard drive. Soon other quirks appeared, but luckily I got the computer to the shop before a complete crash.
So, kudos to TDPRI for being the proverbial canary in the coal mine!
