Playing Hymn Melodies On Guitar [Archive]

Hi folks, first post in this forum.

So....... I plugged my Tele into my DA-10 and set it for "leslie/reverb". Then I got out a songbook of hymns for easy guitar/piano/yada yada. I set the tele in the middle position, treble up, and the treble on the DA-10 max. It has a real nice hollow, spacy kinda tone, but it sounds beautiful. The SG also sounds good set like that, just not quite as "spacy".

I think my claim to fame as a guitarist may be along the lines of Duane Eddy(w/o the twang!), or the ventures style, but not tone. In other words, I will put some backing tracks, and just play the melodies. I can sight read pretty well, and went thru the book a couple of times, and I got about 25 or 30 that sound pretty darn good with just the guitar by itself.

I will endeavor to make a recording tomorrow to help 'splain the concept. I have Band in a Box so should be cake to come up with some "band members"!! I'm kinda hoping to find some BIAB hymns already done....
