Refinish my Taylor 214 neck? [Archive] - Telecaster Guitar Forum

I love my Taylor 214. It's my first decent acoustic. I love everything about it except the neck finish an the back of the neck. The neck is sapele and the grain has not been filled so it's rather course. I'd like to fill the grain and then top coat it. Has anyone done this?

I have built 3 electric guitars and finished them all so I am comfortable with most finishing processes.

It's also interesting that the rosewood truss rod cover does not have any finish on it. Are you guys finishing those? A rather unimportant detail, I know, but it just seems odd.
