hotrodkid November 17th, 2011, 03:26 PM Anybody know?.... I have plans, once I tie up a few loose ends, on relocating to the Port Saint Lucie, Jensen Beach area in Florida which I believe is Martin County. Anyways, I plan on getting into a band along the lines of a Party/Special Occasion gig as soon as I can. I have this ongoing nightmare of being barefoot on a pier with an acoustic guitar, singing Jimmy Buffet Songs!!!
I went online and it seems to be promising. Like to hear some real life stories. Thanks.
LightninMike November 18th, 2011, 11:48 AM Well, I am a few hours south of there, and the scene here can be very fickle.... Lots of players, and lots of places to play... club owners can give the minimum and expect the max.... some places are good and very fair tho... i think i just described the scene pretty much anywhere, so it will take some searching to find what you are looking for but you will find it
I do know there is a great custom shop in Jensen - Resurrection.... the owners are Pat and Tim, father and son... Time(the son) plays for a living and is VERY good.... they helped me with my first guitar project 11 years ago which i've got posted in the home depot section
hotrodkid November 18th, 2011, 09:34 PM Well, at least it sounds like I will have no trouble hooking up with other musicians..That's always half the battle. Thanks for the info.
sacizob November 18th, 2011, 09:42 PM I know there is a Ventures tribute band down there called "The Dentures"

LightninMike November 19th, 2011, 10:51 AM Most of those acts are tied in to each other, but you never know what will come up....
I work for 4 different sound companies and also an Allman's Inspired band.... (trying to get Butch out to a show one of these days as he lives a few miles form here)
what kind of music are you into? Maybe I could point you in the right direction
tweedtone November 19th, 2011, 11:39 AM I'm a working musician (usually have three or more bands going at a time) and a manager at a live music venue/restaurant that just celebrated its 31st anniversary here in Tampa; we also operate talent agency dealing mostly in cover bands for private functions and big sponsored outdoor events.
There's certainly work, be it touring bands who've built up a following over the years or local working bands who play music people want to hear with style, verve and panache. Personally speaking, my band's gigging and earning ability is limited only by my bandmates' availability.

I like a crowd reaction when I perform so anything funky, poppy that people can dance to. That includes new and older stuff. Basically 80's to Rihanna. Or, whatever the band can handle in that range.
