I want "Crunchy Tele" in my bridge position Duncan Hot Stack; "Woman Tone" in my Five-Two Duncan Neck Stack. Got a brand new Sprague Orange Drop .47 cap waiting for these pickups, as well.

As stated before, I'm electronically illiterate. I may be a notey guitar player, but, unlike most of my ilk, I'm a songwriter rather than a tech-head,

Help, please?

Thank you in advance.

Ha count me in the Kentucky thread, RS guitarworks not too close to Louisville but they will ship. I recommend getting some regular CTS pots somewhere else online, Stewmac has them now (much cheaper I'd say) and they are up in Ohio, the parts will get there very fast and you won't have to pay sales tax since its a different state.

actually for a long shaft 500k pot the rs is 1 dollar cheaper.

winchester ky. is only a little over an hour to rs from louisville. about 80 miles. rs is 99 miles from ashland.

athens ohio is 250 miles from louisville. i am about 70 miles from athens.

i got my first weber pots upon a recommendation from a friend. biggest difference is the webers come "pre-tinned" for soldering. price was in the ballpark. i really like them.

I used to live in Ashtown-606 represent. Can get to Winchester and RS pretty easily. May call them tomorrow.

RS looks very swanky and lush. Do they have their own house brand pots? If so, How do those stack up to the CTS in quality?

they have cts pots made to their (rs ) specs. brass shafts and mil specs. regular tolerance for cts pots are 20%. these are 10% tolerance.
they are about as good as it gets as far as cts pots go.

Thanks, man.

Question: This guitar is an '05 MIM. Will the CTS pots fit the guitar, or is this year guitar metric?

Well, RS has all these warnings on their webpage about MIM's having metric components, but others have told me that my late model guitar shouldn't have such incompatibility. Just want to be sure.

The standard bushings are 3/8" while the metric bushings are smaller at 5/16".

Don't want to route. Does CTS sell in metric?

There must be some place to get metric parts.

No routing, just drill out the holes in the control plate. If you want metric pots try Alpha that have the 8mm bushing.http://www.tubesandmore.com/scripts/foxweb.dll/EXTPAGE@d:/dfs/elevclients/cemirror/ELEVATOR.FXP?PAGE=SUBCAT&SEARCH_TREE01=POTENT&SEARCH_TREE02=01_ALPHA

Yes there shouldn't be a problem at all in the cavity of the body, just the holes in the plate may be a little small. Like posted above, Alpha pots are great in my opinion and I have them in many guitars, especially my MIJ/CIJ guitars that I don't want to drill out. Up to you...

1) ALL pots are metric. CTS (they make the pots for Guitarworks) just happen to approximate inch-size.
Most pots are made in the far east by huge manufacturers, some are made in the UK, but they are metric too.

2) MIM generally fitted with Fender/CTS pots. These require a larger control plate hole than full-size Alpha. Measure the hole.

3) a tele control plate wants a "short-shaft" pot, unless you want to add a stop nut.
