Here is a demo of my modded DS-1 - asymmetrical clipping with a green LED and the stock 4150 diode.

There are a few other tweaked components in the pedal, all of which are part of 11 Gauge's recommended mods for the DS-1, which can be found in several different threads in the archives.

I have since put a 4001 silicon diode in place of the LED, but I miss the LED clipping and so may install a toggle switch when I have time...

Sounds very similar to the Keely all seeing eye mod. I put this mod into a DS1 with the led and the switch and it is by far the best distortion pedal I have used.

Yep, SEM should be similar since it uses an LED to clip. I believe the SEM mod is different otherwise, tho.

Amazing, the mod potential of the DS-1!

i remember using a green LED in a ds1 (i sold) and i liked it better than the red LED. the green gave more gain/drive. i might buy another ds1 used.
