Hi all..

Just wanted to share the lovely news of me getting a new roadworn strat.

This is my third roadworn, and perhaps the best yet.

I really find these guitars exceptional value for money.. I know many are sceptic due to the MIM badge, but if you take that fact out of the equation and just look at the instrument's quality I am a strong believer that if you like vintage specs, it is hard to come across any other fender/fender-like guitar at similar quality at a price even close.

This is first RW with rosewood board, and will have to say that these kinda surpass the 50's maple necks in terms of authentic looking wear. The fretboard wear on my 50's strat esp. looks really helpless. I always, however felt that the body chipping and wear looks outstanding on these guitars.

Anyways. I've wanted a white/rosewood strat for a long time now, and the only ones I bonded with were either CS pieces, or some of the 60's roadworns; I unfortunately found, though, that the roadworns didn't at all look olympic white, but rather a pale blue of some sort. I've read that others have had similar experiences.

Then the other day, though, I went to a store that had this baby standing on a stand, that just looked perfect. Apparently it had been standing in well over a year in the sunlight and thus has yellowed nicely in certain places. That aside, the white one this guitar actually looks white, so I'm guessing this one is either the odd one out, or that fender maybe changed the color code at some point on this line?

Anyways, the guitar is super light at 7.2 lb's and like the other roadworns extremely resonant. The neck is super comfy, not too slim but not fat either and has a very nice rounding to it that I've otherwise only come across on guitars at much higher prices.

And as with my other roadworns this guitar is just alive... both unplugged and plugged in.. These guitars, to me, just breathe and sing, and make you feel you are one with the guitar and amp.

Here it is:

Only thing it needs is a good polishing of the headstock so it doesn't have that unrealistic matte look to it.

Unfortunately I do not have a camera good enough to show the nice weathering and checking of the paint on the body.. But imo really impressive stuff. . .

If you havent aldready... go try these guitars,, you wont be disappointed. Esp. through a drri around breakup point... pure sex :)

When I picked up my 60's Oly Road Worn all my other guitars became expendable.
I like the looks. I like the feel. I like the playability. I like the sound. I guess I just like the Road Worns.

Very nice.I own the same one.Mine is one of the first ones released back in 2008.Mine has that pale blue/white color that is not quite olympic white as Fender claims...more like a faded sonic blue which I personally like. But I did contact Fender to inform them that they had the wrong color for a true olympic white and they typically didn't know what to say('...oh can you send us pictures and we'll verify...'WTF???).I even asked Mike Eldred from the custom shop about it and he said that olympic white is supposed to have a blue tint in it.WTF?I never saw any true pre CBS Fender in olympic white with a blue tint!!!I then asked him about Jimi Hendrix's famous white Woodstock Strat. He replied to me that Jimi's Strat was blonde and not white(again WTF???).I really don't believe any of that.Anyways, enjoy your guitar!!!

Nice

These guitars, or at least the ones I've had my hands on are truly special and sooo open and lively sounding. Plays amazing too.
My Tele did need some fret work though, I have read this from others as well, but again.. what is a small fret-polishing/trimming, if you get such an amazing instrument.

Really should be perfect from the factory,, but oh well... Thats modern day manufacturing I guess.. Even my 56ri Custom Shope Les Paul had a bit of neck hump going on  WTF !!

But hey... In my book thats small-stuff.. a good instrument is a good instrument.

Yeah I actually think I read a thread about that :) but who cares if you like the color  I don't think Fender is alone in that boat though.. Looking at Gibsons goldtops, they vary extremely from on guitar to the next.. . . But again.. a good instrument is a good instrument, so who cares.

As I wrote in previous post my RW tele needed fretwork right out of the box,my new strat has a very nice fretjob with nicely rounded fret-ends, though, so again just shows the inconsistency from our favourite manufacturers. Oh and neck profiles... Don't get me started

But I actually kind of enjoy the hunt. If all the guitars were the same, it would be no fun. When you find the right one, you know it  Unfortunately for my bank-account, the right one is now the right 6

I have a 60s Sunburst and love it. Feels like it has a rolled fretboard.I love the sound, i lowered the pickups to just above the pickguard. This gives it nice chimey tone not so hot, the tone/sound i am after.

The 60's do have rolled fretboard edges... at least the ones I've had in my hands  Really goes nicely with the round c profile and the 7.25 radius and tall frets... comfy as gloves.

Congratulations and happy new guitar day!

I'd like to get a Road Worn someday. The few I've played were very nice.
