I'm certainly not the first, but what the heck, I may be the newest member of the Copper Burst Tele Club. Post your pics and stories about your Copper Burst Teles here!! All Copper Burst Teles are welcome.

Mine is a 2011 Fender FSR MIM Standard Telecaster in Copper Burst from the limited Guitar Center run. I picked it up on Saturday afternoon in Buffalo, NY, drove home to Oakville, Onatrio, Canada, 90 minutes north, and gigged it for a full 3 sets without any setup whatsoever!! It's a great guitar and I can't belive that all in - including taxes when I crossed the border - that it was around $385 USD!!

It's definitely a keeper!!

So let's see and hear about your Copper Bursts, tdpri members.

I have one too and I absolutely love it. Last one they had at the Guitar Center nearby. Put a Rumpelstiltskin White Rope in the Bridge and a Twang King in the neck. Changed the bridge plate to a Wilkinson with compensated brass saddles because I like them. I still kept the originals. This is one of the sweetest playing and sounding guitars I have ever touched.
I will post a picture later, but it looks the same as these. Everyone who sees it drools over it. I would not sell it for twice the $385.00 I paid for it. On second thought, I wouldn't sell it period.

Hey Dave,

Sorry to hijack this thread but I have a quick question:

I seem to recall somewhere that you were quite happy with a local builder....local as in the Greater TO area. A good friend is looking for a reputable quality builder and I can't remember who it was that built yours.

Any help is greatly appreciated....

Cheers,
Jethro

Hi! I just picked up one of these tonight kind of spur of the moment off of CL. An unplanned 90 mile round trip without a lot of info to go on, but it panned out nicely.

2010 FSR Tele in Copperburst.

Brand new condition with protective plastic still on the pickguard, not a mark on on it, I love the neck, it sounds great with and without amplification. Sounds pretty unique and a bit polite and more forgiving for a tele. I'm liking it a lot. Only nit to pick is the fret edges need a little softening. Other than that, I think it's stellar. Love the tone and sustain of the three saddle brass bridge, no desire to go with 6. I thought the price was extremely low considering it's as-new. I believe she's a keeper.

Add me to the club. Ordered one from my local GC a few weeks ago. At $399 minus whatever discounts GC is offering at the moment it is the best value Tele out there by a large margin.

I'm in. Just picked mine up today. Had to wait two weeks for my local GC to get one from another store. It's a real nice guitar.

This is mine! I won it at the Grand Opening of the Guitar Center here in Huntsville. My neck position cover has a small dent and I need to replace that. I had a blond MIM Tele a few years back but did not like the way it sounded or played. I really like this model, it plays well and sounds pretty good. I run it through a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe.

Sorry I didnt see this sooner Dave. I am in. I was one of the first here to score it. Getting one of these when they first came out and they were 399. You could not take the smile off of my face. I felt like I really won.

Here's a vid of mine, I have yet to reverse the control plate and rewire the pots and switch so it's 'regular' again.

Hey all,

New to the site. I received mine as a surprise x-mas gift from the wife (best wife ever)
And was just amazed at the fit and finish as well as the sound. (it was an e-bay find)

And it is as great a player as my American standard any day.

Only the ones that were made only for GC.

Okay,

Thanks for the replies. Mine must be one of the GC ones. Is there a way to tell for certain if it was or not?

Thanks again.

Hey everyone - there is one of these locally on Craigs List and I am supposed to meet the guy tomorrow to look at it. He wants $350 for it and that includes the gig-bag. I think it sounds like a pretty great deal. One question I have is about the neck. My worry is that it is going to have some "fret sprout" and that really bothers me. Did anyone else's have this issue? Also - Is the guitar routed in a manner that I could later put a humbucker in the neck? What does it look like underneath the pick guard? Thanks everyone, I really like the look of these Tele's.

The GC ones also had the vintage bridge with brass saddles. You can also call Fender customer service and they will tell you the specs.

I picked up a Copper Burst Tele today off Craigs List. So far she sounds and looks great. I noticed that the copper is almost gold on mine. I really like the color. Now I just need some time and an empty house so I can test her out properly.

this is what mine looks like...it doesnt fade to black at all it looks black but actually it is just a darker copper color. i think its great but for some reason mine doesnt look like the ones ive seen in this thread.i mean i like mine much more but i was wondering the difference?

classic30
March 20th, 2012, 08:09 PM
i know the obvious differences like: mine has a six saddle bridge which i prefer for intonation purposes, white guard and a bullet style switch rather than a tophat.also mine is a 60th anniversary?thats what the plate on the neck heel says... either way this thing is a beast it has full size pots not those sub mini crap pots and i put in a seymour duncan lil 59 so i could have less hum more bite!

The others, with the black pickguard, are a limited run made exclusively for Guitar Center, called the FSR (Fender Special Run) Copperburst. Yours looks to be the regular Fender Copperburst.

I got one of the GC types in Dublin very recently, brand new. It is really quite golden alright. I played it vs. a Baja and I much preferred it- only later did I realise it had the standard pickups! I'll be keeping it stock for now I reckon.
