Strat with Dummy coil

A friend has asked me to look at his strat it has been wired with a dummy coil as in the diagram below.

It looks a bit strange to me as I've seen much simpler diagrams with a spst switch.

It has a 0.5 cap and goes a little nasaly when the tone is turned down while the dummy coil is on.

If Phostenix or other wiring experts take a look at it and see what you make of it.

Thanks.

Is that really where the dummy is?
If so that coil is a bit close to the bridge... could be some signal crossover going on causing it to sound nasal - like out of phase pickups

Yes right next to the bridge pickup real strange the magnet has been removed but the pole pieces are still in place.

I asked the guy who did the original work he said was a local luthier.

As I said it just looks odd esp the wiring.

Thanks for the reply

yeah the dummy coil in my powerhouse strat is stock and it is located the same as in the link above. it is pretty quiet, until i do the tone knob bypass.
