Got a Rocktron Surf, which frankly doesn't cut it. Anyone know of an affordable (i.e. not boutique) trem pedal that does a good job of mimicking amp trem?

Anyone know of an affordable (i.e. not boutique) trem pedal that does a good job of mimicking amp trem? stechmann March 1st, 2005, 12:40 PM Tremster will do the job !! gls500 March 1st, 2005, 12:52 PM I really like my Voodoo Lab tremolo pedal (4-knob version). I use it quite a bit, and think I like it more than my friend's Fulltone Supa-trem. If you look hard enough, you can find them used for $80-90. Good luck. Teletwang March 1st, 2005, 12:55 PM I guess affordable is relative. Anyway, I'd recommend the Guyatone Micro ($60 +/-). http://www.guyatone.com/images2/pedals/vt3big.jpg http://www.guyatone.com/microeffects/vt3.html jonny_frethead March 1st, 2005, 01:24 PM Catalinbread is a small manufacturer out of Seattle and a great guy who makes great pedals....check out his new Semaphore Tremolo Tremolo pedal. Gorgeous tremolo sounds with Square, Triangle, Sawtooth, Ramp, Pulse, Blip waveshapes! There are some sound samples at Harmony Central in the effects forum. http://www.catalinbread.com/pedals.html maxwidmer March 1st, 2005, 03:22 PM  BLACKCAT69 March 1st, 2005, 04:00 PM Is likely the Danelectro Tuna Melt ?(little yellow one). Quite good for the economy. I personally really like the BOss TR-2. BB March 1st, 2005, 06:37 PM Is likely the Danelectro Tuna Melt ?(little yellow one). Quite good for the economy. I personally really like the BOss TR-2. I found a Diaz tremodillo some time back for a good price and eagerly awaited it's arrival. A/B'd it against my buddy's Boss TR-2 and both of us preffered the Boss. The Rocktek "Vibrator" is a pretty decent sounding, cheap pedal. While not a trem, per se, it does a good job of bridging the gap between vibe and trem. I picked one up for $17.00 and was pleasently surprised. Jupiter Beach March 1st, 2005, 09:55 PM Another vote for the TR-2. Tele295 March 3rd, 2005, 07:37 PM I really like my Voodoo Lab tremolo pedal (4-knob version). Ditto However, the Boss trem pedal isn't as bad as I thought it would be. I was on the fence between the Boss and the VL until I plugged them in together. 4-knob VL all the way. lpacilio March 3rd, 2005, 10:39 PM The Boss TR2 is a fine pedal. If you get the Analogman modified version it turns it into an incredible trem at half the price of a "boutique" tremolo. detuned March 3rd, 2005, 10:48 PM Cheap, sounds great, what else do you want? :-) Tim Swartz March 4th, 2005, 12:18 AM The Swamp Thing sounds just like a brown Tremolux/Deluxe or BF/SF Princeton/Princeton Reverb trem. Great Ape March 5th, 2005, 02:43 PM Cheers for all the input, guys. Has anyone been able to a/b the analogman and Voodoo Labs pedals? Ta Ape Tom P. March 6th, 2005, 07:50 AM I thought the Boss and Dano pedals did a great job but passed a lot of hiss into the signal when not on. I found the Voodoo lab trem passes very little noise downstream. mudshark March 6th, 2005, 10:31 AM I like the Boss TR-2. I'd be interested to hear a review from anyone who has had the analogman mod done to a TR-2. Edit to add: I also would agree that the Danelectro Tuna Melt trem is an amazing buy for the money. eddiewagner November 8th, 2005, 04:20 AM last week i bought a brandnew boos tr-2. i checked it in a big store against the competition: the line 6 was nice but was humming in conjunction with the rest of my board. (i took that with me to the shop. can only recommend to do so when you want to be happy after you spend the money. ) the little danelectro looked too toylike for my taste. boss sounded okay in the shop. took the boss home, opened it immediately and amputated the c4 capcitator. it´s called the c4 mod and is talked about in length in harmony central. assembled the tr-2 and voilá: instant success. all is good, the pedal sound fantasic and looks good in my analog-collection. eddie wagner Joel Terry November 8th, 2005, 10:16 AM The Boss TR2 is a fine pedal. If you get the Analogman modified version it turns it into an incredible trem at half the price of a "boutique" tremolo. Right on. Fx Doctor also makes a great TR-2 mod. Joel kp8 November 8th, 2005, 05:12 PM Anyone try the SIB trem pedal? The features look great, but i have heard of some problems (since solved) with other SIB pedals... it looks cool on paper, but have not heard anyone who has tried one in person. -kp8-- |
