Just wondering . . .

Does anyone know for sure if October 14, 1951 is the official release date of the Fender P bass? I was working in Fullerton in 2001 and I was surrounded by Fender trivia at the time and I thought that this was the published date, but now, it seems there's nothing on the web that I can find to verify it. Thanks.

The Gruhn/Carter book places it as Nov, 1951...for what that is worth.

Interesting. Fender wrote back to me and said their records indicate Dec. 1951.

All I know is that I should have kept the '52 that I had.
