yeah so i was looking at some stuff on how to build your own expression pedal from the parts of a crybaby or whatever and i noticed how simple it was. it basically just looked like you take one input jack then attach it to the pot. is that it? well i was thinking about instead of having to find a pedal, i would just run a cable to an extra jack on my guitar then run the jack to a pot that i could control with my hand. so instead of having it at my feet, its at my hands. Would this work? i think it would be neat, but i dont know if there is any problem with this that im not seeing

That's the basic gist of an expression pedal, just a volume knob controlled by your foot. However, if you wire that into your guitar, it's basically the same thing as your volume knob. Do you mean to do this post-FX? If so, you have a cable leaving your guitar, coming back, then leaving again. You could do something fancy with a TRS cable, but then you still have two cables hanging off of your guitar.

It's an expression pedal for my delay so I can control the feedback and whatnot without having to bend over. And I wouldn't mind runnin two trs cables if I just connected them together running parallel and had another input Jack nearby

What about one of those mini pcb delays like gfs sells?

Seems like a cleaner solution or maybe I missed the whole point?

Any old volume pedal will work as an expression pedal.
