"report" revival of age old threads?

Paul, are there any circumstances where we should use the red dot "report" function when years' old threads are revived?

Yes, people do this all the time. It's the only way we are aware that folks have brought them back up.

Many times these zombie threads are brought back up by link spammers and this helps us find them, too.

When it's appropriate we split the new posts into a new thread. If the new posts are really not adding any info then we just remove them. We also contact the poster -- usually a newby -- and explain our policy to them.
