Finding G-Bender Tele

Hi from Spain!,

I´m looking for a G-Bender Telecaster (with McVay Bender) because I want to buy it. I like a Tele´52 or a Tele with Butterscotch, natural, or redwood finish.
I can buy a Tele on Ebay (USA) and send to MacVay Bender, or do you know if McVay has a stock Teles for sale? I imagine I couldn´t find A Tele with this features on the web...

Another question, I see that most of the bender-guitars use the B string. Why is less popular the G string bender?

Thank you!

I'm 99% sure that Mr. McVay does not sell guitars. My understanding is that he's a machinist who also makes a great bender system. I got extremely lucky/blessed and found a guitar with a B- and G-bender already installed, but, you're right, finding a guitar with a G-bender already installed will probably prove difficult. I would suggest finding a guitar you love and send it to Mr. McVay to have the bender installed.

Having both a B- and G-bender, I don't find either of them more or less useful than the other. I would suspect that the B-bender is a bit more popular because the first guitar with a bender in it had a B-bender. That's just a guess though.

If you are only going to have 1 bender, most people (except for Brad Paisley) seem to find the B bender is more useful.

Look at B & W Benders, they have a similar bending system to McVay's and he often has
Guitars for sale with the Bender already installed. Don't know about shipping to Spain though. Good luck with your quest for a bender.

Contact Forrest Lee Jr. at forrestcustomguitars.com - - - he just put up a beautiful blue-paisley sparkle strap-actuated G Bender for sale. It is everything you are looking for.

Ok, thank you!!!
I don´t like the button of the Forrest Guitars (look, image), without it, they are perfect, very beautiful.
B&W Benders is an option but they have in stock Teles Mex and I have one, I want an American Tele with Vintage bridge with 3 saddles, and blonde, natural or butterscotck finish.
I think I ´m buying a Tele on Ebay and send to McVay...

Ormond beat me to it. My main giging guitar is one of Forrests blue paiselys. However I to have one comming from McVay. It will be finished this week. Just a G bender in that one, I am building a Brad clone guitar. The exact specs as his Crook guitars. Yay for DIY.

Have you thought about a TIm Wallis bender? I ordered one myself a few weeks ago for another guitar that has such a nice paint job I did't want a router anywhere near it.

I know one guy where likes his so much he had his B&G benders taken out in favor of Tim's rig. Of course I have yet to play one so I can't really say much about them.

Even charlie mcvay himself will tell you that the b string makes more sense. Charlie is also a phenomenal steel guitar player.

He doesn't sell any teles already installed. But its as simple as finding a guitar you like and sending it to him.

Hope it turns out well for you. Are you going with the G bender? What is your wait time going to be?

Charlie tells me the guitar ´ll be in 12 weeks:cry:. I´ll have a problem if it won´t be in Christmas Day. I told him to do everything possible to make this at that time.

At first I´ve known this style listening Brad Paisley music, after this I´m listening a lot of B-Benders guitar players. Maybe it´ll be better from me to install a B Bender, to learn. I never play with this system. I´m watching videos on youtube to learn this style, and all are of B Bender...I know that Brad uses G Bender, but I think that I´ll learn better with B-Bender.
Am I right?

I think you'll be best off with B-bender. Alot of instruction around for it.
