As much as I love my new Vox AC15C1, the reverb sucks, and I knew when I tried it in the shop that it would have to be replaced. It's just a wash of indistinct mud.
The tank is a Korean accutronics BS3EB3C1B. I think the equivalent USA model is 8EB3C1B. I read some people saying short tanks (type 8, like this one) are always going to be rubbish, and I should get a larger tank (type 4 or 9) to get a decent reverb, so i got a 4EB3C1B. When I plugged it in, the reverb was a lot weaker than the original tank. Couldn't really make out whether the quality of the reverb was better.
It struck me that maybe the impedance of the reverb send on the amp might need to be different in order to drive a larger tank. Is this the case? If so can anyone suggest a tank that would be compatible with this amp?
