Yes I did finish it myself. It is Reranch orange alcohol based dye, heavily tinted. This was actually a mistake but I ended up liking how it turned out. The clearcoat is Reranch nitro satin. Here's a closer shot of the body.

yegbert,
that's a good looking guitar. looks kinda like the Mary Kaye finish i've seen on some strats.

Thanks!

It's the stock white blonde, the same color Fender uses on the custom shop Mary Kaye Strat. So it's apparently the same color that was on the Strat she made famous in the early 50s.

Mine being a MIM, its finish is polyester; the cs Mary Kaye Strat finish is described in the 2005 Frontline (p 22) as "thin, White Blonde nitrocellulose N.O.S.". I haven't found that (MK Strat) model in the new Fender online spread, but there's a great pic of it in that Frontline.

There seems to be a touch of pink in the white blonde. It reminds me of the creamy skin of a very fair complexioned lady. I thought the fresh snow made a nice backdrop for it, but my amateur picture came out a bit dim.

Buckocaster51
February 24th, 2005, 06:49 PM
It's an old picture but they are still a couple of favorites. Have you ever noticed that the shape of the bottom half of a Strat is dang near identical to the bottom half of a Tele?

The Paisley and Blue Flower both date from about '85. They are so similar to my '67 maple neck that I really can't tell the difference between them...with my eyes closed that is. Visually I have found it to be pretty easy to tell them apart.

LOL...yeah, I guess you could say that. I'm a lefty that was forced to learn to play right handed as a kid. I never developed a controllable fretting hand vibrato or great right hand picking, so after about 29 years of playing right handed and thinking about switching over to lefty, I finally said screw it and picked up the lefty MIJ 52RI in Apr '04 last year on ebay and have been playing lefty ever since. I've got great vibrato now, but just need to wood shed on the lefty hybrid picking for a while. I can tell though that I will be better lefty player than a righty in the long run.

I would say it's "Surf Pearl". This is a refinished body so maybe the attempt on this job was
to create the illusion of a "Surf Green" that has mellowed over the years.

You might go to http://home.flash.net/~guitars/ and look around.
I am kind of color blind in that spectrum, looks kind of Daphne Blue or Foam Green to me. Either would have been rare on a tele, I can't tell on the computer.
Another good site for custom color info is http://www.provide.net/~cfh/fenderc.html

Obviously, they don't give you a traditional tele sound, but they have a nice ballsy tone. I believe Institute of Noise has done a pretty thorough review of their properties.

I have its twin, except mine came complete with a very crudely enlarged bridge pickup rout to accommodate another 'bucker-sized pickup -- used it to build a "Reverse Fat Tele" partscaster. Afaik, the body came from a (now discontinued) "California Fat Tele." Unfortunately, my digital camera isn't near good enough to photograph such a dark instrument -- it has a b/w/b pickguard from a JD Tele and black pickups too.

Hi guys,

Yeah the guitar is a real vintage, before I bought it I consulted with vintage tele-guru Nacho and wanted to know what his thoughts where on it he says it is actually a Nocaster but someone has replaced the neck with a 53 neck (wider 12 fret dots etc). Anyways It was a great price and I thought that the low serial was pretty cool so I got it. Let me tell you it was worth every penny not only does it look cool, fill me with mojo when playing but it sounds amazing, It is totally true when they say the vintage stuff has THE TONE...

Miss Tango - that Telesonic looks cool. Is that a refin or did the guitar come that way - is that TV Yellow?

Miss Tango

The Telesonic came that way. It's Butterscotch Blonde, it had to imported in from the US especially cause they didn't sell them in that colour over here. Typical!

Heck...I'm just happy that I finally remembered to scale down my pics to less than 500 wide.

That is awesome. I love the neck hb. Which model Tele is that, and what kind of bridge does it have?

It's just a plain ol' 2002 MIM STD with a vintage 3 saddle bridge & Ashtray cover. The HB is from a NAMM Edition Samick guitar (the HB is actually labeled on the bottom as an Epiphone HB). I put a chicken head knob on the tone control and a pretty lady decal on there too.

My main one is this Esquire which I recently had the pickguard made specially for by Doug at www.layli.net/

which is part of my collection (apologies for those who have seen this before). I have to agree with Skully, it doesn't necessarily equal talent. I managed for years on one main & a cheap spare. They do all get played regularly though & I am gigging them.

All Fender RIs - from top left MIM 69 thinline, MIM Esquire (pre leather pickguard), MIM Nashville & CIJ 52 Reissue. Bottom row from left is MIM 72 Deluxe, MIM 50s classic (soon to be given a leather pickguard too) and the CIJ Antigua.

Here is a brand new Fender Japan tele, it's their TL62B-82TX model, as delivered in hard case with the "Texas Special" sticker. I'm not even a guitarist (drummer/percusionist), but I still think this is an incredibly beautiful thing. I bought this as a birthday present for my daughter, because she's been a good girl, going well at school, her guitar teacher is pleased with her progress. Now, however, looking at this guitar with its indefinable combination of grace and menace I am wondering if it will turn her into a bad girl...

Ordered via e-mail from Ishibashi - couldn't recommend their service highly enough. Delivered to Australia in 4 days.

 I may have posted this here before but this is my favorite Tele (out of three) It would never have any collector's value but it's one sweet player with several nice mods to it:

http://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL86/502790/14698381/282194651.jpg

It has a vintage "Nocaster" neck (one piece nitro cellulose-no stripe) and I will not say where I got it from. Thank you very much. All CTS pots, Switchmater selector switch, SD 52 Broadcaster at the bridge, SD Vintage Stack at the neck. An early Esquire bridgeplate (not a body through-I like the sound) and Brass Saddles:

http://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL86/502790/14698381/282194659.jpg

and because staying in tune is way more important than looking vintage, I installed a set of Planet Waves Locking Tuners with the built in string clip-18:1 ratio (can't believe I picked these over the Sperzels or the Fender lockers but i'm glad I did) The gear ratio was worth the choice alone:

http://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL86/502790/14698381/282195032.jpg

Plays like butter and all the personal touches give this girl some serious mojo.

Here's my 68. Its got a SD pickup in the neck position because the original one crapped out about 20 years ago. There's a humbucker under the pickguard which I can switch on or off with the little toggle switch on the control plate. I did it that way because I wanted to keep the appearance fairly original. Thinking of getting the neck relaquered as most of the original has worn off. Sorry about the picture quality.

Csapo,

Great to see that the Thinline connection is continuing to grow.

Csapo,

Great to see that the Thinline connection is continuing to grow.

Congrats!

Thank you Ajay.

Selling my CIJ Rosewood RI funded this one. (the original plan was for a new amp...but this got in the way.)

I've been searching for quite a while for one of these Thinlines, with a maple neck. Prices have been really high and they don't come available too often. This one was reasonable and I wanted either red or sunburst.

Plays and sounds great...

that's my new favorite shot of my '51 (photo by Joey Foley) - I love this picture so much I wanna marry it!

...that would make a cool album cover/publicity poster for an upcoming gig!

Sweet!

Hi everyone. New here, thought this'd be a good place to start. I don't actually own a Fender Telecaster but I love the style and sound. Teles would have to be the most comfortable guitars I've ever played.

Here's my Cole Clark Culprit 3. It's a thinline tele style guitar made from primarily Aussie woods.

I've seen some amazing teles on these pages... gets the GAS going bad  I'm really wanting an esquire of some sort at the moment... not that I have the money

Wow. thats pretty spiffy... loving the ashtray bridge on it, as well as the neck. How's it sound/play?
