Hi guys.
I'm playing this with my trio at the moment and am wondering how some of you would approach soloing over the A section in this tune?
We're playing it in F minor.

C#dim ideas over C7 resolving to Fm
Alternately see it as Abmajor with an E natural rather than Eb over the C7

You can really play any kind of altered C7 as long as you resolve it to Fmin. So you can do C# dim, you can do C# Melodic Minor, or C# wholetone, and then land on an Ab or an Eb when you get back to the Fmin and you should be swingin nice!

I've been doing a country style version in the key of Ami. I do the bridge Chet style with A7=D7=G7=C7=B7...E7...Ami..It's not perfectly correct but it works good for me..And it's easier for "not so skilled" bass players to follow..Drummers love it..It's a break from the old wipe out thingy..

Check the Ventures' version on their first cd for a good starting point--Walk Don't Run.
