It would be even sadder if I didn't have one. Good Iron December 29th, 2011, 01:02 PM It IS a Binary world and we need more zeros to make it to "One MILLION posts" - yes I am talking about digits! But let's all give our telecaster tote'n backs a pat to at least have made it to 1000 posts. Anyone gonna do the math on this one? Carry on. have a great day, afternoon, or evening! Peace on Earth today! Maybe I get my pickup working and figure out my tension issue on the Stratocaster later. wheee!!! Good Iron tgfmike December 29th, 2011, 01:46 PM It took about 100 days to get to 1000 Telecaster posts. At that rate I calculate we'd reach 1 million in about 274 years. If we post 10 times as fast, we could get there in only 27.4 years. dan79 December 29th, 2011, 06:49 PM I'll tell you what baffles me - this thread has been viewed nearly 10,000 times but only has 1000+ posts - does that mean some folk are looking at what's going on and then leaving without posting the word Telecaster?! How dare they? We don't have 27.4 years let alone 274!!:wink: nrand December 29th, 2011, 09:26 PM Who dares wins . . Telecaster! hollowman December 30th, 2011, 12:25 AM This is what we call a Missouri Telecaster ride Canuckcaster December 30th, 2011, 01:07 AM I'll tell you what baffles me - this thread has been viewed nearly 10,000 times but only has 1000+ posts - does that mean some folk are looking at what's going on and then leaving without posting the word Telecaster?! How dare they? We don't have 27.4 years let alone 274!!:wink: I've done this a couple of times now. Telecaster!!! CC HoodieMcFoodie December 30th, 2011, 01:15 AM Counting down to the Great Tamworth Telecaster Gathering next month. Good Iron December 30th, 2011, 08:20 AM Counting down to the Great Tamworth Telecaster Gathering next month. Yeah! Have fun, are you gonna bring your telecaster along? Yep that is a silly question, but we all know why I asked it don't we? heck ya! Thanks tgfmike for doing the math, it doesn't look very good at this time does it? Hey we are very much neighbors if your location is correctamundo, of course you are a westsider and I a lowly Valley person… but don’t hold that against me I am a very good guy. Peace, maybe we do a coffee or something. Okay... We’ll keep it open. Onwards and upwards - it's apparently a long way to... "One MILLION posts" telleutelleme December 30th, 2011, 09:51 AM Have a Happy Telecaster New Year. May you be prosperous and arrive at that point when you need one more Telecaster and may that point be often. hollowman December 30th, 2011, 12:52 PM My telecaster and I plan to split a bottle of bubbly on New Years Eve tgfmike December 30th, 2011, 01:23 PM Happy Telecaster to you, until we meet again. Happy Telecaster to you, keep smiling on 'til then. telleutelleme December 30th, 2011, 10:51 PM How can Elvis be the King of Rock and Roll if he never sang about or played a Telecaster? vincent December 30th, 2011, 11:00 PM It's a Telecaster thing, you wouldn't understand. HoodieMcFoodie January 1st, 2012, 07:44 AM mike, me likee that red telecaster very much. I also liked the "one fish, two fish" reference  Scooby Snax January 1st, 2012, 08:33 AM A Telecaster New Year to all! Scooby Snax January 1st, 2012, 08:36 AM How can Elvis be the King of Rock and Roll if he never sang about or played a Telecaster? Oh Elvis plays a Telecaster:http://www.brooklynvegan.com/img/music/elviscostello/wellmonttheater/7.jpg tgfmike January 1st, 2012, 12:09 PM I'm really off this time .... like a mistuned Telecaster. Good Iron January 1st, 2012, 07:40 PM Yes Mike, I agree with Hoodie on this (but I don't have a favorite, I like them all equally). Really nice guitars you have there! I see that they are all telecasters. Which is your favorite telecaster this moment, even though you say you are really off. YOu know someone, I don't remember who, said to me once about solos, that when you think you played a solo poorly you probably didn't, and when you think you played a solo great you probably did. Metronome might help? tgfmike January 1st, 2012, 09:46 PM "I'm really off this time .... like a mistuned Telecaster" is a take-off on song lyrics that Hoodie posted in the Apparently thread. None of those one, two, red, blue Teles are mine. I only have the two in my avatar. My favorite is the black MIM. And, lest I forget the point of this thread - TELECASTER! HoodieMcFoodie January 1st, 2012, 10:22 PM Mike, doesn't your telecoustic count as a telecaster? tgfmike January 2nd, 2012, 02:36 AM Mike, doesn't your telecoustic count as a telecaster? No according to the OP of the Tele Headcount thread. I guess I agree: hollow body, acoustic bridge and acoustic transducer = not a Telecaster. nrand January 2nd, 2012, 06:11 AM Deep Telecaster http://i908.photobucket.com/albums/ac284/nrand_photos/Baritone%20TeleJag%20hybrid/TeleBaritone_7.jpg http://i908.photobucket.com/albums/ac284/nrand_photos/Baritone%20TeleJag%20hybrid/TeleBaritone_5.jpg http://i908.photobucket.com/albums/ac284/nrand_photos/Baritone%20TeleJag%20hybrid/FenderTeleParts_28.jpg hollowman January 2nd, 2012, 11:54 AM My love is like a telecaster cranked to 10 Good Iron January 2nd, 2012, 12:17 PM "I'm really off this time .... like a mistuned Telecaster" is a take-off on song lyrics that Hoodie posted in the Apparently thread. Well, then I am really off this time! Telecaster ZachZ January 2nd, 2012, 12:20 PM *makes a post with the word "Telecaster" in it* Good Iron January 2nd, 2012, 12:59 PM I find this interesting; I noticed this in another epic thread decided to copy and paste... Make up a lie about the poster above you! ________21,163 posts________255,666 views________Epic Threads At this time, this is the "posts to view ratio" shown and it is approximately close to what this thread is, maybe it is not uncommon for this phenomenon to occur. It is roughly 10:1. Basic math is not a strong suit for me... So, we are a long way from 21,000 much less 1,000,000 - - - *makes a post with the word "Telecaster" in it* posts. I love my telecaster is sounds really good. Good day Telecaster! String Tree January 2nd, 2012, 02:15 PM The one thing that really bothers me about STAR TREK's idea about the future - No Telecasters! You'd think Dr McCoy would have a Telecaster in Sick Bay. tgfmike January 2nd, 2012, 04:21 PM Oh Telecaster I long to see you. telleutelleme January 2nd, 2012, 09:08 PM While it is just the beginning of the year, I've already had several encounters with my Telecaster. At the present rate, I could possibly exceed 365 by the end of the year. nrand January 3rd, 2012, 01:12 PM In an effort to keep a thread moving that seems to be stuck I'll just have to use my trusty Telecaster thread detangler tgfmike January 3rd, 2012, 01:28 PM In an effort to keep a thread moving that seems to be stuck I'll just have to use my trusty Telecaster thread detangler Thank you fior helping with your trusty Telecaster thread detangler. Scooby Snax January 3rd, 2012, 02:02 PM I can't believe we are only at 1043 posts with Telecaster in them. We have a long, long way to go. Good Iron January 3rd, 2012, 05:05 PM I can't believe we are only at 1043 posts with Telecaster in them. We have a long, long way to go. "One MILLION posts" with the word Telecaster in every post. A very ambitious goal indeed. With 7 billion people in the world (or close to that or maybe a little more, I don't know) this could get done very quickly, however yes... on our way to 1,100... whoppee. And what goal is this, to crash the server? I think an Epic thread is one with 500 or more posts in it, right? Correct me if I am wrong but I think this is a fact here at TDPRI 500 posts make an epic. I also wonder what of our Scottish Internet friend who started this thread? The OP last post on the 2nd of December 2011 stated “one Telecaster closer to one million”. A more realistic goal might have been "One THOUSAND posts", or even more ambitious than that... "One HUNDRED THOUSAND posts", but "One MILLION posts" is a pretty insane goal, certifiably insane. Note: The goal is certifiably insane, not the OP. So this is quite a perspective that there are “only” just over a thousand, and I share this perspective but… “One THOUSAND posts” is a lot. “Make up a lie about the poster above you!” has the most at 21,180 and counting at the present time, and there are two others tied at 215 (I do not know how these got into the epic thread forum and apparently I do not know the rules and what makes a epic thread epic). By the way the “Make up a lie about the poster above you!” thread was started June 24th, 2009, 04:44 PM by a Canadian Telecaster lover that goes by the name Swee tone. Anybody care to do the math on this? I wonder how we fair in comparison to the “I’ve got the most posts” thread that hasn’t been started yet by me... and I wonder what is the pace of the “Make up a lie about the poster above you!” thread compared to the "One MILLION posts” thread. Is it just about the same, in close to three years will we see over 20,000 posts here, that is if everyone keeps posting to it? Surely the “Make up a lie about the poster above you!” thread is something to aspire to and is over two years in the making so they clearly have the Internet thread posting advantage here on TDPRI. If you are still reading this then you about as crazy as me to still be writing to it… over and out. Just insanity really… telecaster telleutelleme January 3rd, 2012, 05:57 PM One small step for posting, one giant step for Telecaster. tgfmike January 3rd, 2012, 07:00 PM One more Telecaster post. 0.0001% closer to 1 million. BTW - according to the statistics near the bottom of the main forum page (http://www.tdpri.com/forum/index.php), there are currently 3,778,675 posts here at tdpri. Wait, make that 3,778,678. Good Iron January 4th, 2012, 03:18 AM Wow! I didn't know about that "Telecaster Guitar Forum Statistics" window.... Kul  HoodieMcFoodie January 4th, 2012, 04:36 AM I think the key to it is to have a core group of posters who are dedicated to pushing this thread along. That's the experience in the Liars thread. Part of the charm of the Liars thread is it is an opportunity for folks to stretch and express their imagination as they make each post. Sure, some posts are quite tame in comparison, but every now and then a theme will be presented that will be developed by the posters, until it reaches legendary or cult status within the thread itself. Two classic examples of this are the "Dinsdale" and "Manatee" themes. For the "One MILLION posts !!" thread to continue into the future it needs, as I said before, the dedication of the posters here at the TDPRI. Luckily the thread itself is in the right place in the Epic Threads sub-forum. If it were still in the Bad Dog Cafe it would be doomed to sink to the bottom of the mire, following the fate of all other posts there. Happily there are folk here in Epic Threads who are happy to push things along. But in saying that for an Epic Thread to be truly successful it needs to be worth reading and participating in. By that I mean merely posting "the word", in a hit and run attempt to get it across the line, is doomed to fail, as there is little reason for readers to drop in if all they see is post after post of "the word". What I'm proposing here is that people invest a little time and effort into getting this thread up and running, if it is to live up to the standard set by its big brother the Liars thread. Oh, and one more thing before I go. Telecaster. nrand January 4th, 2012, 05:01 AM Twang Dang Telecaster thang nrand January 4th, 2012, 06:56 AM Never before in the annals of Telecaster have so few been asked to do so much for so little. Good Iron January 4th, 2012, 07:28 AM HoodieMcFoodie states: [in regard to the very popular "Make up a lie about the poster above you" thread ...Sure, some posts are quite tame in comparison, but every now and then a theme will be presented that will be developed by the posters, until it reaches legendary or cult status within the thread itself. Two classic examples of this are the "Dinsdale" and "Manatee" themes... So I am guessing here (I think i know the game) that I could have went two potato, three potato, four potato more...??? that sort of thing when tgfmike started that theme? Of course I realize the potatoes <- is that the Dinsdale... I mean Dan Quayle spelling? IDK, maybe I outta drop out, I am a little dense for all this  But seriously I get you and what you are saying, a thread is only interesting if it is interesting, if it isn't then it just is not - the word Telecaster is many things to many people so it would stand to reason there should be some really interesting stuff here. Time will tell if it continues on and gets good occasionally. I'm tired, and I am out. HoodieMcFoodie January 4th, 2012, 07:57 AM So I am guessing here (I think i know the game) that I could have went two potato, three potato, four potato more...??? that sort of thing when tgfmike started that theme? Yeah that's the idea. Substituted words in quotes, pop culture references, any of that sort of stuff. Take a theme from a previous post and put your own spin on it. Anything to mix it up instead of just saying "the word". Well it's late here too so I shall wish you all good telecaster for now. P.S. Oh I forgot to mention in my previous post about the camaraderie that exists between the regular posters in the Liars thread. Some good friendships have come out of the thread as a result. We may say the most outrageous things about each other at times, but it's never malicious and always done in a sense of fun and playfulness. Anyone that comes in with any nastiness soon gets sorted out. tgfmike January 4th, 2012, 02:13 PM There isn't much of anything better than a Telecaster. telleutelleme January 4th, 2012, 06:59 PM I understand Telecasters, but can Hoodie please explain that again? Wait, I get it. Be interesting and include Telecaster in the topic. That seems easy. I suppose there could be neat Phatom Telecaster page turns and maybe a tread jump mixing a lie with a Telecaster. Oh no, sohouldn't do that. Let me think about it a while. I know. I'll go play my Telecaster and worry about it tomorrow. nrand January 4th, 2012, 07:44 PM Three score and three years ago Leo and George brought forth on this continent, and others, a new axe, conceived in economy, and dedicated to the proposition that not all twang is created equal. Now we are engaged in a great guitar marketing war, testing whether that notion, or any notion, so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure. We are innundated by a great deal of cheap imports, yet we have continued to carve our niche, an enduring portion of that field, as an enduring symbol for those who here devote their lives that that notion might live. It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this. But, in a larger sense, we can not dedicate, we can not consecrate, we can not hallow this space. The committed players, living and pretending, who journal here, have consecrated it, far above the power or mere words to add or detract. The wider world may little note, nor long remember what we say here, but thanks to cyberspace we can never forget what Leo and George did, nor edit our own regrettable comments once certain statutes have expired. It is for us the living, henceforth, to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they who brought here have thus far so nobly advanced. It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us—that from these honored before us we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion—that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain—that this notion, named Telecaster, shall always breathe the new breath of freedom—and that the name of the Telecaster, by the Telecaster, for the Telecaster, shall not perish from the earth. djalt January 4th, 2012, 07:50 PM You're once,..... Twice...... 3x a Telecaster.... tgfmike January 4th, 2012, 08:14 PM nrand - The Telecaster Address is awesome. And just for good measure - Telecaster. tgfmike January 5th, 2012, 11:34 AM 15 hours without any posts to this 1 million Telecaster posts thread? At this rate it will take 14879 years! telleutelleme January 5th, 2012, 11:58 AM Friends, Romans, fellow TDPRI'ers lend me your ears. I come here not to bury the Telecaster but to praise it. nrand January 5th, 2012, 04:59 PM In the end, it's not going to matter how many breaths you took, but how many Telecasters took your breath away - shing xiong nrand January 5th, 2012, 05:00 PM Never give your Telecasters to anyone. nrand January 5th, 2012, 05:02 PM A sad thing in life is when you find the Telecaster that means a lot to you, only to find out in the end that it was never meant to be and you just have to let go. nrand January 5th, 2012, 05:04 PM Don't go for looks, they can deceive. Don't go for bling, even that fades away. Go for something gives you twang - it takes only a Telecaster to make a dark note seem bright. tuuur January 5th, 2012, 05:04 PM Never give your Telecasters to anyone. Amen! nrand January 5th, 2012, 05:05 PM Work like you don't need the money, love like you've never been hurt and play like you've always had a Telecaster.. nrand January 5th, 2012, 05:06 PM A Telecaster is what we ask for when we already know the answer. nrand January 5th, 2012, 05:08 PM Our attitude toward Telecaster determines Telecaster's attitude towards us. nrand January 5th, 2012, 05:09 PM Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter play Telecasters. nrand January 5th, 2012, 05:10 PM Don't cry because it's broken, smile because it was a Telecaster. nrand January 5th, 2012, 05:13 PM Be the Telecaster that you wish to see in the world. nrand January 5th, 2012, 05:14 PM You only live once, but if you had a Tele, once is enough. nrand January 5th, 2012, 05:15 PM If you practice the Telecaster, you don't have to remember anything. nrand January 5th, 2012, 05:16 PM In one word I can sum up everything I've learned about life: Telecaster. nrand January 5th, 2012, 05:17 PM A Telecaster is someone who knows all about you and still loves you. Scantron08 January 5th, 2012, 05:18 PM I can't help but wonder if 10,000 posts would have been more realistic. Oh, and .... telecaster. nrand January 5th, 2012, 05:19 PM To play a Telecaster in a world that is constantly trying to make you play something else is the greatest accomplishment. nrand January 5th, 2012, 05:27 PM Here's to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The Telecasters. The round necks in the square pockets. The ones who see things differently. They're not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can strum them, bend them, amplify or distort them. About the only thing you can't do is ignore them. Because Telecasters and their players bring twang to the world. They push the human musical experience west-ward. And while some may see us as the lost ones, we know we are genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can save the world, are the ones who do. telleutelleme January 5th, 2012, 06:38 PM At the doorway I paused; then I reflected. I approached, then I reached. I played, and I listened. I smiled. A few thoughts about my Telecaster. Good Iron January 6th, 2012, 01:12 AM Hi 10,000 posts... uh I mean 1,000,000 posts :?::!: I am off to see an awesome group of people play at the Baked Potato tonight out here where I live. I have heard about this band since it's original thought, I don't know anyone in this band, but the aliens  told me about it. Sorry TGF, I just got a call on this or I would have told you about it. I hope the guitar player (pretty sure he is the leader(quote inside quotes)... HE IS the leader), will play a Telecaster! but he may not, I will report. btw... it is a nine piece heavy metal jazz band; and quite honestly I have had this as a concept for at least 35 years and this guy IS DOING IT!!! I guess I had the idea planted as many ideas are planted in many fingers of humankind so as to have them actually happen, this is the way things work. This hereby copyrighted here and now in original form - owned by me. tgfmike January 6th, 2012, 01:29 AM GI forgot to put Telecaster in his post. I hope he comes back and edits it. edit: I obviously need better glasses - GI had Telecaster in there just fine. Good Iron January 6th, 2012, 06:38 AM GI forgot to put Telecaster in his post. I hope he comes back and edits it. I did have Telecaster in my post TGFmike, but no capital T... so it doesn't count; it's fixed by capitalization of T-ness. Now get this... I got to the Baked Potato for the second show (set) and nope the leader was not playing the guitar parts, but he can play guitar and other instruments equally well, really great charts, great band, he was playing that Akai Ewi thingy and he was smoking on that thing. So... the amazing thing besides me actually knowing a couple people in the band and being totally surprise by some of the people who showed up to listen --- But that is really sorta completely normal to be surprised by the surprising people you wouldn't expect to show up where you are - so that is not so weird actually, whatever moving on... Guitar player is playing a Telecaster and btw sounds fantastic, looked like a 52 re-issue to me, but I didn't ask him about it we talked about "not gear" stuff. So I comment and I find out that he normally plays a Stratocaster in this band because he uses the Vibrato Arm. I have met this guy before but I couldn’t really place him, I sense he felt the same of me. Whatever, he is a very nice guy and we had good conversation. What happened is, he broke a string mid-gig, (I am assuming first set) and just used his back up guitar rather than re-stringing for the second set. Of course I don't know the full story and don't care to know but I did commend him on having such a great back-up! I think he said something like these are bulletproof and I countered with yea, it’s a weapon if required. So that is it, when I see them again I suspect the Stratocaster might be in use and not the Telecaster. The universe is quite a wonderful large mystery. I would love to find a place in this band somehow, unique concept, great players, and a whole lot of fun. Just smokin indeed. I am very tired… again… so over and out. Debut gig of Dogg Mansion, glad I went. GI tgfmike January 6th, 2012, 10:33 AM I did have Telecaster in my post TGFmike, but no capital T... so it doesn't count; it's fixed by capitalization of T-ness. And here I've already broken my resolution to never comment on someone else's post. Telecaster. telleutelleme January 6th, 2012, 10:56 AM Speed sighting Telecaster's, Doc Mike sometimes misses a Telecaster here and there.
