Years ago I had an Epiphone Casino ( a real one) I missed it from time-to-time. I played some of the reissues and wasn't really impressed. When the 61 reissue came out I tried one out. It has all American electrics, Gibson pickups. The scarf joint is at the headstock, which is an old luthier's trick that helps with the angled headstock, I realize it's a cost saving device though. The guitar isn't cheap; $799. I could get a discount where my amps are sold, but held off. Yesterday, I got the Musician's Fiend Labor Day discount email. $100 off. I found a used one on their site for $630. I called and inquired about the guitar and the $100 discount. The salesman said that Epiphone was not participating in the discount. I reminded him that this was a USED guitar. He put me on hold and asked about the discount on his end. I got the discount on the used guitar! $530 and free shipping. The guitar comes with a hardshell case too. I am thrilled!
Here's a stock photo.

MMMM, please report back with how it feels, plays! I am curious. I've had two over the years and regretted selling them both.

I handled one today. They are made in China. It had a chunkier neck than I prefer, but F&F seemed pretty good. Still, at $800 it wasn't for me.

I agree, but for $530 it was more attractive.

+1
I think these Epi Limited Editon 50th Anniversary Casinos are far from overpriced. They are in fact a very reasonable deal (provided of course you get a good one but that's true of any model of guitar).
I think the 'Made In China' criticism is very quickly going to go the way of the "Made in Japan' criticism that existed when I was a kid.
