Sheet Music Notation (what's it mean?)

Ok, so I'm advancing my learning by trying to play songs out of books. Some of the notations I can find but others aren't as easy to locate.

Is there a legend somewhere on line where I can compare it to the book to see what it wants me to do?

The problem I'm having mainly is that I was shown/told what it was during my lessons but it didn't set. So now I'm looking at it trying to remember what I was told and I'm drawing a blank.

In this case, I'm unable to recall what the diagonal notes mean

Other things like the parenthesis surrounding the tab position I can play around but am not sure of it's actual meaning: (8)

And something like that's not really searchable on the 'net.

So, is there a legend type guide somewhere?

Thanks.

Are you doing TABs or, musical notation?

Well the book has both but the section I'm specifically looking at now says:

Gtr. 2: w/Rhy. Fig. 3

And there's nothing that says what "Fig. 3" is (I read it as "Figure 3")

_
And under is (the / \ is an arch):

_ ____________
/ \ / \
/ /

And it's above the normal music notation (5 lines, normal notes) vs the tabbed notation.

And while I am looking for a reminder of what it means, I'd still like to find a complete reference somewhere vs having to ask questions that are easy for most folks I would think.

Usually, a TAB book will have a legend, often at the back of the book.

Ok, I'll check the back (I usually expect such things in the front :) ). It should be in one of the books.

Thanks.

Sure enough, it's there in the back. But it's not in every one so I can see how I missed it. Thanks guys.
