My King of Tone "Clone"

Just completed my first pedal build. It is based on the Analogman King of Tone. It's a madbean PCB (King of Klones). I was pleasantly surprised that it worked the first time. The madbean PCB is great and the layout/instructions were very good.

A post like this is worthless without pics so... I hand painted the text and the clone. Next time I think I'll opt for water slide decals to replace my shaky hand.

Now I know my wiring is messy but I struggled with the fact I had lots of different gauge wire and also the pre-drilled enclosure from Mammoth. While I thought having a pre-drilled enclosure would have been a time saver, it ended up limiting me as far as placement of everything that went into it.

The pedal sounds really good. And the diode switch is pretty cool (switches between 1n914, 1n4001, and no clipping) I haven't really cranked my amp with it yet but it seems very versatile. I also switched out the 100k Gain pot for a 250 K one for main gain.

I socketed the IC so I can play with that some more too. I think I'm hooked.

Looks like an awesome build! Love the paint job too. I might have to try one of these! How easy was it to build?

Never built a pedal before this one. Have only done guitar wiring. That said, I thought it was fairly easy, but I made sure I honed my soldering skills beforehand. That's what gave me the confidence. Having the board screen printed was a big help too.

It was certainly cool plugging it in after getting it all hooked up and finding out it worked!
