I recently acquired a used 2008 Squier Classic Vibe Jazz Bass ‘60s for those 3 reasons:
1) I needed an inexpensive back-up for my 2006 Fender USA SE Jazz Bass,
2) Reviews are generally positive for these instrument’s series,
3) It matches a White/Turtoise MIM Strat and has a close look to a similar Squier Pro Tone Strat that I both own.
My regular JB is fully dressed with both PU and PU/Bridge Fender covers as on the first 1964 JB I owned 43 years ago and I was expecting adding those on the CV as well.
I simply love the classy look those pieces of hardware give to the bass.
In my mind a Jazz Bass without covers is like a vintage Cadillac without white wall tires and wheel covers.
The problem is that the CV bridge is way different from the original.
It is ˝”wider and is extending further on the back because they made it with a significantly thicker tail end to add mass. It is probably done this way to compensate the lack of tonal properties of the basswood bodies.
The genuine Fender PU/Bridge cover does not fit!!!!!
Does somebody found a JB style cover from other sources that fit with this particular bridge?
I don’t care if there is no “F” embossed like on the Allparts cover, after all the CV is definitively not a “real Classic Fender”. But I must admit that it meets most of the expectations created by reason #2.
Thanks!
