I thought that I had nailed it with The Highway 50 Band. So I googled it, and apparently, every 150 miles or so there is a different Highway 50 Band. I suppose I could do the me too game and use it anyway, but I'd rather not. Any and all suggestions surely welcomed. I've got gigs booked, but no name.

I've been listening to old time radio. And have fallen in love with a show called Melody Roundup. In it, bands like The Sons of the Pioneers take requests from soldiers. The hosts include Hopalong Cassidy, California Carlson, Walter Brennan, etc. But my favorite--and I would love to see the band called this--LUM AND ABNER!!!

There's a sign on Interstate 80 (i guess it shares the road with highway 50) just west of Sacramento that says "Ocean City, MD 3,186 miles" or whatever the exact number is

Not really a country band name, but I've always wanted to start a band called Found by Joggers.

As for country band names, I was in this band where we got an atlas and randomly turned to a page and I plunked my finger down randomly and took the resulting place name and added "String Band" onto the end. it was much more interesting than anything we could have thought of. Try it.

Many tears ago the band I was in was called Big Country and then this UK band came along with a hit record so a name change was required, we also covered a wide variety of styles from Don Williams, Gordon Lightfoot, Pure Prarie League, Eagles, Doobies, Beach Boys, and a bit of disco stuff.

The name didn't really fit our style so we changed to George's River Ripples, a couple of the guys were oyster farmers on the George's River.

The Pure Prarie League stuff was our preferred style but when you are working 6 nights a week you need a fairly diverse song book.

My mates band at one stage had all left handed mambers so the called themselves Left Hand Drive
