NBD: Squier CV Precision

Bought a Squier Bronco a week ago @ GC. After reading some of the posts on here, I decided to try the CV's and VM's.. thankful for the 45 day return policy.
The J-Basses were too heavy, although I like the neck, I just couldn't see me supporting that type of bass for long. This P-bass is lighter than my MIK tele, believe it or not; and sounds amazing. I just need to adjust the action a bit.

On a side note: I tried a 30" scale Epi EB-O and almost went for that.. but need the versatility of the P-bass sound. This is the quintessential bass sound to me, YMMV.

But, it's a match made in heaven for my needs.

Hay Jimmy,

That's my brother's name.

The new VM and CV models are built much better
than previous Squiers. I have a new VM P bass in
soft maple. It has shielded wiring where needed
and the exposed leads are very short. The cavity
is all painted with thick shielding paint and the paint
is mounted to ground using a grounding strap,

The CVs are the same way.

One thing I had to do was to cut the nut grooves
down to an acceptable level. That made the action
A+. I also put a 500k pot on the tone and a new cap.

Then I put ROTO 77LD flats on it. I thought I died and
gone to heaven when I played along with my MP3.

Here's mine,

Them are sweet lookin basses fellers!

Don't pick one of these up if you know
what's good for you. You may loose 4
or 5 hundred dollars right quick.

That was my big mistake. I was afrade
someone else would get it, http://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/z434/tabdog1/STUPIDdogMedium-2.jpg

Thanks all.

Hiya tabdog!
You have a sweet bass, there.
The quality of mine seems on par with yours. The control cavity is painted. Thanks for the tips, especially replacing the tone pot. That thing seems just about useless right now. It's either too bright or straight mud. I feel like a safe-cracker trying to get it right.. It has a very small sweep before it turns bad.

Yep, that was my fear, too. Someone else would buy this bass, if I didn't snatch it up. Horrible place for G.A.S. that GC, is...
:D
