Political ads are allowed on TDPRI but politcal discussion isn't?

Political ads are allowed but politcal discussion isn't? I was wondering why the political ads are allowed on TDPRI when a counterpoint isn't. Does TDPRI have a political agenda that they don't want argued? I ask because the ad that is appearing is for the district I live in. It's a very hotly debated issue where I live.

You will have to point out where this political ad is so we can see for ourselves if it is truly political. Do you have a link or something to point it out?

I am pretty sure the only agenda the TDPRI has is the get a Tele in everyones hands that wants one..... but I could be wrong. I suppose it could be a coverup for their real ambition. To take over the world!

Probably a Google Ad.

Yes, probably a Google ad. You were probably searching the subject, then got the ad, which others here aren't seeing.

I was searching telescopes, then telescope ads were showing up for me. Then searching RV's, and RV ads began showing for me on TDPRI.

BTW, any Viagra ads showing up for you?

;o)

It may be cookie related...as someone already mentioned. I did a google search for TV stands about 2 months ago, and now EVERYDAY I see an add for a TV stand come up...it's a conspiracy I tell you, a conspiracy.

If you're not seeing it I'm not going to post it. There is no question about it making a political statement.

Yes it is a google ad. Yes it is about a subject that I searched recently.
I only get viagra ads in my e-mail junk along with offers to give me money from Nigeria.

I use firefox with script blocker and ccleaner.

I cleared my cookies and It took google one click (from TDPRI homepage to forum) to figure my location and send the ad again.

It's not me that's breaking the Prime Directive.

Thundersleet the ads are being targeted at you by Google, not the TDPRI. Google ads appear based on things you've searched for, geographical location etc.

Sadly, this is the world we live in now. The all knowing, all seeing Google knows who you are, where you are and what you want and makes sure that you can't escape its ever present eye.

Keep Gouda Out, Keep Gouda OUT, KEEP GOUDA OUT!

Shades of the episode of "French Fields" where William is busted by customs for smuggling a block of Stilton into France.

As for the google ad targetting, I find I have to do several lingeree searches after clicking on Musician's Friend a single time

California cows are happy cows. And happy cows give you better cheese.

Or so the ad says.

We have all Political Ads blocked on Google and other networks. However, sometimes the folks that make political ads sneak in a political ad by lying when they submit the ad to Google. They tell Google there is nothing political about it, and sometimes Google is too busy to really check out the ad and see if that's true.

A couple of things you can do.

One, you can turn off Google's "interest-based ads" feature. On most, but not all Google Ads you'll see an Arrow when you hover over it you'll see an "AdChoices" link. Click that and you should find a way to turn off that feature.

Better yet, watch this video and it will explain all:

aUkm_gKgdQc

Also, you can click on the ad and copy the URL -- then go to Google and send them feedback on the ad, telling them it's political.

You can also send that URL from the ad to me and I can manually block that ad completely so that no one here can see it.

One thing, you should never assume that the content of a Google ad is something that we have approved. EVERY TDPRI member sees different ads and they are never submitted to us for our approval. We work extremely hard to keep unsavory and unwanted ads off of our websites. And, we forgo a great deal of advertising income that we could bring in if we allowed unsavory advertising to be shown on the TDPRI. So, know that we are working to make your experience here as pleasant and relevant as possible.

The information about tailoring the ads to suit your interests was interesting. Maybe when I get time I will see if I can make my internet ads worth looking at.

I did go to Google and file a complaint. The link for Feedback on AdWords ads is here. (http://adwords.google.com/support/aw/bin/request.py?hl=en&contact_type=feedback&origin=cluster&rd=1)

I did also send the URL from the ad to TDPRI. In about an hour I got a reply and the ad was manually blocked.

In the future I will only assume that TDPRI is working to make everyone's experience here as pleasant and relevant as possible. Your hard work is appreciated. Thank You for following through. I would also like to apologize if I offended anyone with my assumptions.

Here, here. Given the disparate mix of people who love Telecasters, it would get very ugly in short order.

Well, from the other posts, I now understand why I keep being asked to join "Hot Lola's House of Pain".

I could make a terrible joke here but I think I will let it slide....oops....too late...

Clear and block all cookies (ask), except by permission (set) to sites that need them to operate, like TDPRI, but hence not all the advert extras. Needs a bit of extra work with Flash and Javascript but doable. You still get random adverts but they don't follow you about.
