mystery 51 p bass body ID

I've been seeing all the hubub about CV's quality and wanting the CV 51 p bass's badly just not in the CV colors butterscotch or LPB, so I saw this as an alternative - just picked this up off of ebay for a project thinking it was a Squier,

I thought it may have been some obscure Squier 51 reissue, but looking at the neck pocket makes me think that it isn't, since the pockets should be painted
plus the neck plate is completely blank and the jack plate looks pretty flimsy and doesn't sit flush on the body. Once i held this in my hand i began to think that it's probably not a Squier or a Fender body, not that big of a deal if it isn't, of course, i'd rather it was, but NBD, i didn't pay much for it. and i like it so im going to put a Squier CV 51 (just got this one too: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140579573477&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT ) neck anyway and then maybe a better pup (depending how this one goes) and 3 ply pick guard to match my all black tele deluxe. However i haven't even seen many 51's in person so i don't really know. I suppose it [I]could be a squier or samick -

if not then who is the actual manufacturer? Does anyone know how to find out? there is not a serial number anywhere on it i havent taken the PG off yet but im not even sure that would help. Any info on how to ID would be helpfull, if anyone can lend me thier expertise. Thanks ~ TDFiend

Hell no, the more painted the pocket is, the less sustain you have. Most of my buddies removed the paint from neck cavity and the instruments suddenly became much better sounding and vibrating.

Hey Immo! We spoke about these basses before. Yeah I was thinking it could be a JT, but not sure. I haven't seen an all black tho. I took off the pickguard to find a little qc sticker with what looks like Chinese or Korean on it are JT's made in either country?

According to Wikipedia, JT 'production facilities are located in China and Indonesia'.
I've heard many times that the quality is always in mind in the JT manufacture precess, so there's a need to test the stuff before giving away any opinions... Congrats on a nice find!

i noticed somethnig a little alarming when i put the pick guard back on it tho, it seems like the screws can strip rather easily, is that a sign of a laminate body?

and are JT's any good? if it is indeed a JT that is. I took a photo of the qc sticker perhaps it is a clue to someone?
