Hey everybody! In appreciation of one of the greatest Tele copies I decided to start this thread. Mine is a Comet Mk II in unburst finish that I bought some time ago. I changed the pickguard for a more original look. Might upgrade the nut to a Graph Tech nut over time, and maybe go for netter compensated saddles.

Great build quality and a veyr smooth modern (thin) neck and authentic Tele tone!

Comet players, let's unite!

Are those Lace Sensor pickups in your Comet?

ik heb er ook een (een linkse) in butterscotch blonde maar ik vind de rosewood neck te dun dus ik wil die gaan vervangen voor een dikkere maple neck en ik wil de saddles vervangen voor brass saddles

Ik vertelde hem dat een tele zonder maple neck geen tele was in mijn ogen. Hij geloofde mij en beloofde een maple neck te regelen. Heeft bijna een half jaar geduurd maar toen had ik mijn maple neck.

Pas op, want de LC heeft een wat bredere hals als standaard. Brug of zadels vervangen is geen probleem.

Speling in de neckpocket. Hoeft niet erg te zijn maar het vereist wel aandacht als je de nieuwe hals er op schroeft. De hals moet worden gecentreerd.

Ik heb het ff voor je nagemeten . De LC hals is op de 17e fret (waar de body aansluit op de hals) 55,91 mm breed. Mijn Fender tele is op dat punt 54,77 mm.

sorry voor de late reactie ik was op vakantie maar dankjewel voor de maten, maar ik kan wel gewoon een andere neck erin zetten maar dan extra voorzichtig of kan het helemaal niet?

Sorry man. This guitar is only released in the Netherlands and is built like a CV, probably from the same factory. There seemed no point in keeping up the English in a Dutch only subject, but you are correct in your observation ...

Alles kan, de vraag is of je het zelf kan of dat het slimmer is om het voor twee tientjes uit te besteden aan iemand die weet wat hij doet. Ik heb nog een paar meer maten voor je.

Van hart tot hart gemeten neckplate schroeven:

London City h: 47,51 mm w: 36,14 mm
Fender h: 47,99 mm w: 35,10 mm

Vanwege de iets wijdere neck staan de width schroeven bij de LC ruim een mm meer uit elkaar. Nog meer risico op scheeftrekken als je niet oppast.

Werkelijk? You learn something new everyday. Ik heb die nooit in winkels gezien (wel de thinline), noch op de site van de importeur. Zo'n mintgroene lijkt mij wel wat. Heb je daar toevallig pics van?

After I tried to give it a used look I realised I went to far so I did a complete refinish of the body.

Really love this guitar, it gets more playing time then my musicman Luke which was about 10 times more expensive. (Changed the saddles to brass ones though and also changed the switch, potmeters and the tuning machines)

LC, a Dutch company with a factory in China where the guitars were made (when they witched from factory the guitars were named MII).
I own two of them: one lefty M1 and a "normal" righthanded which is for my son (when he is willing to study more). In my opinion these guitars can beat the MIM. I know that LC went bankrupt so these guitars are not produced anymore.

As promised hereby some pics:

My LC comet has just undergone surgery. it now has a WSC '59 Alnico PAF neck humbucker and 500K pots.

Also, I decided to upgrade the nut and string guide to Graphtechs and have compensated saddles installed.

The result is an even nicer guitar!

Own a Comet mk1 too. First series, with serial number on a little sticker. Plays great, changed the tuners and that's it... Love to play it over my old Fender amp from 1968.

Cannot find a clear answer on what wood is used for the body. Is it alder or poplar?

Has anyone of you tried brass compensated saddles. Do they really improve the intonation and what about the sound?

By the way I replaced the neck with a standard Vox Humana Rosewood 7.25 neck and replaced the tuners by Fender Strat tuners.

Mine has compensated brass saddles and graph tech nut + string guide. Stays in tune very well, intonation spot on.

Looking to sell my reliced LC Comet though, anyone from (South of) Holland to buy it?

I own a LC comet, purchased in april 2006. First series, number 520. This is a great guitar. I also owned a Comet from later date. I sold it because in comparison with
my "old" Comet it was not half as good! The old one will be a collectors item in time!!

Ik bezit een LC comet van de eerste serie. Mijn gitaar was nummer 520. Geweldige gitaar. Ik had nog een comet van een (veel) latere serie. Die heb ik verkocht. Hij was niet half zo goed als de eerste. De eerste wordt nog eens ooit een collectors item
