Greeting brothers and Sisters.Alanbama July 5th, 2011, 03:29 PM I just signed up when I saw the Christian forum. Hope to be getting to know y'all (Alabama) better! Late Comer July 5th, 2011, 05:51 PM Welcome! Great to have someone else here who came of musical age before the 1990s! Alanbama July 5th, 2011, 08:10 PM Thank you. We know what real music really is, huh? Big Dawg July 5th, 2011, 08:44 PM hey! i'm in georgia, close to the alabama line. hit me up sometime! and welcome to the tele clubhouse. you will find nothing but good folks here. praisebass July 5th, 2011, 09:24 PM Its a 'worship players forum' not a specifically 'Christian' forum and I'm sure people coming from other faiths are welcome - including non-believers. I'm proud to say I'm firmly in the Christian camp! Tele content to keep it relevant: I play a G&L ASAT bass mostly in the P&W band at my church, play a Godin Acousticaster for finger style guitar and accompanying specials and offeratory and what not and recently moved from a Strat to a Nashville Tele for electric guitar. What do you play? Alanbama July 6th, 2011, 01:12 PM I will Big Dawg! I play a Yamaha thinline acoustic. The Church has never had much live contemporary music there. Not because they don't allow it, no one that plays there plays it. I'm going to work with the drummer and bass player and I'll probably use my American Strat on that type of music. I'm still in much prayer about that. And I'm thinking about trading the strat in on a Tele. I've played them a lot. jaygerr July 6th, 2011, 01:19 PM Welcome! eedwards July 6th, 2011, 08:03 PM Welcome, Alanbama! bikeracr July 7th, 2011, 06:13 AM Welcome! Alanbama July 7th, 2011, 02:29 PM Thanks you all! EEDWARDS. I'm living proof that 40 years of practice has NOT made no where near perfect! Late Comer July 8th, 2011, 08:45 PM Thank you. We know what real music really is, huh? Oh yeah! We know that long solos are good things and that it is perfectly acceptable for a big ending to last almost as long as the rest of the song! (Uncle Ted taught me that!) Alanbama July 9th, 2011, 02:29 PM Our motto; the definition of lyrics: Wasted space between solo's! black_doug July 9th, 2011, 06:17 PM Welcome! Great to have you here. If I may say, I love a solo as much as anyone but I've had to learn that it's not about me. Alanbama July 10th, 2011, 03:20 PM Oh I agree completely! We were actually talking about the songs of our generation. When I was 20 I wanted to solo all the time. I'm sure glad there's no sound track. I'm sure they didn't sound as good to anyone else as they did to me. LOL. Today my whole life has turned around. Texsunburst59 July 10th, 2011, 05:25 PM Welcome to the forum and hope to see your posts in the future. Alanbama July 10th, 2011, 08:38 PM Thank you! soundchaser59 July 19th, 2011, 09:42 AM Thanks you all! EEDWARDS. I'm living proof that 40 years of practice has NOT made no where near perfect! 38 years here, and I still can't play a diminished scale. Alabama does gospel right! Joeja does too! I'm actually from Texas, so I try and try to get some Edgar Winter and Stevie Ray influence into the worship tunes our church does, but they are very.......reluctant....... they say we are a "Baptist" church in disguise, but when I ask them to listen to Ray Charles they say, "That's nice. Let's move on!" Welcome! PS: re: solos I'm in the Lincoln Brewster camp......someone put that killer guitar solo in my heart for a reason, it's a gotsta come outa there soona or lata, might as well be some time soona! Alanbama July 23rd, 2011, 05:39 PM What's a diminished scale? I would put a smiley, but I'm serious. BigDaddyLH July 24th, 2011, 12:16 AM What's a diminished scale? I would put a smiley, but I'm serious. G diminished: G A Bb C Db Eb Fb F# G Note that it goes whole step, half, whole, half ... Alanbama July 24th, 2011, 01:24 AM Oh. Thanks BigDaddy LH. |
