Hey people, I need some help here. I currently have l280's N and M, and an l298 in bridge. I want to try the keystones since I feel it's not necessary for me to have noiseless. I play with p90's and have no complaints;) But my question is, I love the sound of the 298, will the bridge keystone have similar gusto? If anyone has had both and could compare, or atleast has the keystones and could fill me in on the bridge pup. When I use the bridge pup I use it for mainly leads and heavier rock rhythms. I was thinking of going with keystones for n and m and keeping the 298 for b if the keystone is week or trebly etc..

The Keystone bridge is certainly not weak/trebly (none of Bill's pickups are), but the L298 is something pretty special, so it's not so easy to say what you should use. The Keystone Tele set, the bridge is probably more in line with a traditional Tele bridge while completely lacking in icepick/harshness. I suspect the Keystone neck is probably a pretty amazing change for the people who enjoy it (partially due to its uncovered sound and low inductance), which is why we hear less about the bridge pickup in the Keystone set. I'd try the Keystone bridge for a while before committing to the L298. I'm pretty sure the Keystones only come in sets, so you can't specify you don't want one to save some money.

Sorry I forgot to mention this is in a strat. Yea I know know you can only buy in sets but for 80+ $ I'm not complaining! I'm just curious how they would differ. I have a few weeks I'm sure before I get the set so I'm just thinking aloud. I'm sure I'll be swapping in and out pups and doing recorded comparisons once they arrive. Impatience can be a pain though ;)

I have Keystones in an Amer Series Ash / rosewood Tele and a 298 in my Cali Fat Tele. They both sound great where they are and are different from each other. The Keystones are more traditional and remind me of my '71 Tele. The Cali is my main squeeze.
