Me again - The pedal crazy 19y/o who is slowly selling the house from under everyone's feet to feed an addiction.

This week (or month, depending how everything works out) I bring you three amazing pedals.

The first, is another KLD clone - Their version of the Ibanez AD80.

Yes, I stuck flux capacitor on it, but only cuz I couldn't find an appropriate picture of a real flux capacitor

Secondly is everyone's best mate that isn't a Big Muff - The ol' Boss DS1.

Picked this up for $50 (so about 30USD - who could turn that down?). It is (or was) Taiwanese, and yeah it sounded ok, but I had it modded to the MIJ specs anyway. This was a further $25. Considering to buy the pedal new would be $110 or so which is just about a bag of chips anyway, I think I got a pretty good score.

Lastly we have an MXR distortion+. Alot of people don't like these, but this one's special.
The two knobs are both completely interactive. Naturally, both turned up to 11 is my favourite setting, but then it's too loud for the rest of my pedals, so they sit where you see in the picture.
The switch on the side flicks between classic overdrive crunch (which I don't use - Have 2 od's already) and this other wow-tone that sounds a bit like the result of a DS1 and a Big Muff getting bollocksed at a party, and yeah.
Man it's good.

Please ask questions, but don't ask for sound samples, because I'm a knob and can't record anything properly.

Just a bit of repping who did them...

Congrats on the delay and the Dist+.

Sorry to hear about the DS1. Don't worry, your ear will improve with age.

Just kidding. I just can't stand DS1's.

I see what you did there.

I like the dist+ more, but it sounds more like my od's now, and I haven't had a flat out distortion pedal before. Cmon, it was cheap and it does the job

I've owned 2 of them at differet times. When I was 19, in 1996, I bought a DS1. I thought I hated pedals. A Big Muff soon changed my mind.

About a year ago, I drank the juice and bought a modded by Mr. Keeley DS1. Still hated it. There are so many good pedals out there for not much more. I hope you like it though. I just enjoy messing with you.

My version goes like this :

Until late 2010, I hated fuzz pedals. I had a DS2 and I thought it was mean til I noticed it made ****loads of unnecessary noise so I got rid of it... Annoyingly I missed having a distortion.

Yeah I like it so far - Just been reading the "Am I the only one that doesn't have a DS1?" thread... Looks like it has MOAR potential!

Don't mess with me too much or I'll post more DS1 threads.

Now this is interesting - I've got the two blokes with the quotes I see most posting on my thread.

Eh, the DS-1 hate is really misplaced.

It can be made into a good pedal by one of two means.

1) set to MIJ spec

and\or

2) reduce the gain going into the Q1 transistor.

If you haven't tried either one of these, you don't know what you're talking about.

Keeley's mods DO NOT address the real problems, they just put a band-aid on what exists.

You are probably right. After all, you are a doctor. But, shouldn't it be good when you buy it? That's my point. There are inexpensive stomps that sound a world better without any mods, IMHO. But it's only my opinion.

I just got a Dist.+ from a friend who gave me a box of non-working pedals. I got it up and running and figured I was going to sell it, I started using it. It's a nasty little box and it works for what I want it for. It actually works well blasting an Ibanez TK999US.
I think almost any pedal can have a purpose. The exception for me was a DOD Supra Distortion, but that's another tale for another time.

Congrats on the new scores.

I have heard absolutely nothing good about those things, how bad was yours?
